The Iowa State Cyclones wrestling team is competing strong, depicting its athletic prowess with utmost zeal. They are winning the hearts of spectators with their powerful performances across the entire week. They have a history of spectacular wins, including 8 NCAA team titles, 306 All-Americans, and 70 individual NCAA champions. The Iowa State wrestlers have always shown poise, and are committed to climbing up the NWCA rankings.

Clinching the CKLV title recently for the first time since 1996, defeating the other top-ten contenders last week, team Iowa State is proving its strong positioning. And, recently they have moved a position upwards in the latest NWCA Poll.

Iowa State moves to no. 7 in the latest NWCA poll

In the latest coaches poll conducted by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), Iowa State has climbed to No. 7. The Cyclones wrestling team took to Twitter to celebrate the journey. Through their Twitter handle, @CycloneWR, they posted, “Up one spot in this week’s @nwcawrestling Coaches Poll 📈 🌪🚨🌪.”

Occupying No. 7 in NWCA Team Dual Rankings, they now have a 3-1 record, with 266 points altogether. Previously, they were in the No. 8 position. Penn State currently ranks at No. 1 with a solid record of 350 points, followed by NC State and Missouri. Iowa State is now one step closer to the Iowa Hawkeyes, currently at No. 4.  The ranking was according to the NWCA Division I Men’s Wrestling Coaches Poll that was published on Dec. 5, 2023. The concerned poll is according to dual meet results.

The first place is worth 25 points, 24 points for the closely following second-place vote, which goes up to one point vote to the 25 position. David Carr from the Iowa State Wrestling won 3-1, against Cameron Amine of the University of Michigan, pushing them to No. 8. Carr was placed third at the CKLV Invitational.

Iowa State wins the NCAA Team of the Week

NCAA Wrestling recently took to its Twitter handle to recognize Iowa State Wrestling as the “NCAA Team of the Week.” They honored the members for their spectacular performances in the past week. Not only this, there were individual accolades as well.

Iowa State’s Younger Bastida shared Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honors with Oklahoma State’s Izzak Olejnik for the fifth week of the ongoing season. Cyclones reached the top at the CKLV wrestling championships, and their victories are not stopping anytime soon. They are achieving milestones with each step, earning Big 12 and NCAA accolades to shine brightly against their competitors.
