David Taylor has been a major source of empowerment for the OSU Cowboys wrestling team. Ever since the former wrestler turned head coach took the team under his wing, the Cowboys wrestlers went undefeated while maintaining the winning streak forward left behind their former head coach.

After John Smith, David Taylor’s backup was not disappointing but provided a strong cornerstone in the already-built foundation. The legacy now being carried forward by OSU Cowboys’ new head coach has put quite the show on display, attracting major fan support. The upcoming match, however, is expected to bring out the same charm, with fans being seen in a selected outfit requested by Taylor.

With their upcoming match set against No. 22 West Virginia, David Taylor comes yet again with his request for the Cowboys fans to show their support again, but this time with an interesting twist. Taking his request on social media, the head coach urges the fans coming in attendance to wear black and show their support for the Cowboys.

“Welcome back, students. I just want to thank you guys for your support when we wrestled NC State last week. We had a great crowd. You guys are big supporters of that. I want to continue to challenge you to come out and support our wrestling program. Spread the word; tell your friends this weekend we wrestle West Virginia. We’re having a blackout match. Wear your black; spread the word; we’ll see you guys then.”

After the California match, this is the second time David Taylor has come with a request for fans to show their support for the team. The recent video, however, saw him urging to come out yet again with a different request this time. This time the Cowboys are celebrating a black environment.

Ever since he entered the team in May 2024, the Oklahoma State Cowboys wrestling team fans have been enjoying the David Taylor era. With his coaching sessions and dominance adding new texture to the team, the wins given out by its wrestlers have no doubt created quite the competition for its opponents. However, for the head coach, the undefeated streak is not quite impressive.

Emerging from some of the not-so-good individual performances, the Cowboys, with David Taylor’s additional request, are in pursuit of a power-packed while looking for another season-high crowd. As their supporters will be seen prominently in black, the host team is set to welcome West Virginia. The dual set against the No. 22 ranked team will see both teams going against one another in the afternoon match at 2 p.m.

Some of the favorite names coming in highlight for the lineup have their top contender with a 12-2 record, No. 4 Troy Spratley at 125 pounds. Other promising names include No. 4 Tagen Jamison and No. 7 Luke Surber, with both coming off a 14-1 record, and No. 3 Dean Hamiti Jr. with 13-0. Wyatt Hendrickson, Dustin Plot, and Cutter Sheets are also in contribution.

The one to keep an eye on will, however, definitely be the OSU Cowboys 165-pound Cameron Amine, who will be wrestling against Virginia’s No. 3 wrestler Peyton Hall. The unbeatable wrestler with a 21-0 impressive record will be a difficult one for the Cowboys wrestler to beat. Whether the No. 6 wrestler takes an unexpected win against the unstoppable is something we all have to wait and watch.
