David Taylor’s dream team now comes in the form of the Oklahoma State University wrestling team. Carrying big hopes for the Cowboys, the head coach dominance era comes into prominence with the team giving out their best performances under him. Giving back-to-back dominant performances, the Cowboys stand yet again true to their head coach’s expectations showcased at the 2024 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational.
Impressed by their results, the coaching head shares his overall experience from Las Vegas while reflecting on his team’s overall performance. “It was a good tournament. We kind of talked about going into it, just, you know, we’re gonna get challenged, and we did, and, um, it’s just good to see guys get better, and we got a lot of bonus points in that tournament, which are obviously big difference makers.“
Further discussing the individual performance of Wyatt Hendrickson, David Taylor’s words reflected positively on the growth set out by him. “I just gotta see him continue to improve. You know, I just think from the beginning of the season till now, he’s just starting to find his rhythm and his system, and those are some really good guys that rest this weekend, you know, and it was just good to see him continue to get better as then one on.” Not just Wyatt Hendrickson but the Cowboys team put up a dominant display at their Las Vegas invitation.
OSU’s Las Vegas duel
The Oklahoma State University wrestling team has indeed made a good decision to make a superstar wrestler train up a young team of wrestlers to become one of the successful teams today. The current position where the Cowboys stand, however, proves it right. Making their weekend appearance at the 2024 Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas recently, David Taylor’s coaching era saw prominence with another successful win after experiencing an attention-seeking event in their home dual matches.

With a total score of 192 points by the Cowboys, the wrestling team showcased dominance and prominence against the 26 teams in participation. Leading day two by 21.5 points, the Cowboys’ roster comprised ten top seeds of their roster, with every wrestler not lower in position than the fifth place. On one hand, with players like Dean Hamiti Jr. and Wyatt Hendrickson taking the individual win in the first position, players like Troy Spratley, Caleb Fish, and Luke Surber took third place. Runners-up, including Tagen Jamison, Cameron Amine, and Dustin Plott, were, however, a major part of taking the second position. Reece Witcraft took the fourth position, with Carter Young ending up taking the fifth position in the competition.
Outperforming teams like Nebraska, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and several others, following in order of results, the Oklahoma State wrestling team dominance reflected in the Las Vegas win comes as a big win for David Taylor, with his first-ever major win at such a stage of competition.
