Bo Bassett is looking forward to starting a new chapter of his wrestling career as he gradually thins down his list of colleges to join. However, while the junior at Bishop McCort is looking ahead toward the NCAA, there’s another Bassett to help carry a family’s prodigious talent at the high school level. That someone is none other than Bassett’s younger brother.

Keegan Bassett, who has also joined the Bishop McCort wrestling program as a 107 lbs freshman, just proved that he is ready for the high school big leagues. The three-time Super 32 winner’s brother turned in an exceptional performance during Bishop McCort’s dual against top-ranked Wyoming Seminary on January 8. Now, a clip from the dual has captured a glimpse of the younger Bassett’s skills.

“Keegan Bassett wasted no time ripping this nasty headlock at the start of the Wyoming Seminary vs. Bishop McCort dual!” Flo Wrestling captioned the post. The clip from #12 Keegan Bassett vs. Wyatt Stauffer captured Bo Bassett’s brother’s perfect counter to an aggressive start to the bout by the Wyoming Seminary wrestler.

Flo Wrestling’s video shows the 107 lb wrestler defending the takedown attempt from this opponent and slamming him to the ground with a counter-hip throw before immediately putting Stauffer in a headlock. The sequence was so impressive that even his elder brother couldn’t help but compliment Keegan Bassett. “Keegan knocks dudes out cold in the room with these… Just saying,” commented the 17-year-old.

However, this wasn’t the only clip from Keegan Bassett’s crucial contest against the Wyoming Seminary wrestler. A previous clip by Flo Wrestling captured the winning moments from the bout, showing Keegan running to Bo Bassett in celebration. The younger Bassett’s 12-4 contribution played a major role in helping Bishop McCort upset Wyoming Seminary.

However, Bo Bassett did a lot more than simply cheer his younger brother from the sidelines. Moving up to 150 lbs, the wrestler handily defeated Wyatt Fry 21-5 via technical fall. Thanks to the Basset brothers’ performance at Kingston, Pennsylvania, Bishop McCort handed Seminary a crushing 37-17 defeat, their first dual defeat since January 2023. So while Keegan Bassett starts carrying forward the family’s legacy, his elder brother is chipping away at finding the perfect NCAA match.

What’s next for Bo Bassett?

The 17-year-old’s stellar performance against Seminary was nothing out of the ordinary. After all, the high school wrestler practically has a near-perfect 152-1 record and is currently on a three-year win streak at the high school level. These insane stats have basically made the parody the top recruit for the class of 2025, and Bassett is taking his time in choosing a college.

In a rare occurrence, Bo Bassett is the one choosing college names from a list and not the other way around. So far, the high school junior has narrowed down that list to nine colleges. As of the December 12, 2024, update, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Pitt-Johnstown, Rutgers, and Virginia Tech remain.

However, the young wrestler isn’t just overlooking the rest of the 2025 high school wrestling season, either. Bishop McCort head coach and Bassett’s father, Bill Bassett, has big plans for the school this year. Bill Bassett divulged his plans while discussing their victory against Wyoming Seminary. “Seminary has been on top for such a long time, but to us, it’s a huge deal,” said the wrestling coach post-match.

If we want to be the No. 1 team in the nation, we had to beat Sem, and we have to meet Faith (Christian Academy) in the state finals and find a way to get it done,” added Bill Bassett. So both the rising high school wrestling star Keegan Bassett and his prodigy of an elder brother will have their work cut out for them, at least for the immediate future.
