At the recent Ironman Wrestling Tournament, Bill expressed pride in his team’s overall performance, recognizing the effort and growth shown by the athletes.

While Bishop McCort didn’t secure the championship, Bill remains focused on the bigger picture, emphasizing long-term development and success for the team. However, during the post-race interview, featured on WIN Magazine’s YouTube channel, Bill was questioned about Bo’s recent rise in social media popularity.

Keeping his thoughts open, Bo’s father stated, “Bo does a really good job with time management. I mean, he does a good job of setting time aside for it, and I mean, you guys saw, I mean, he’s still wrestling pretty darn good, so, you know, if his wrestling is not dropping, I mean, to me, I think, you know, I think it’s a great thing; I think he’s changing a sport; I think, you know, a lot of little kids, a lot of new parents are looking up to him and learning a lot from him, and I know what if he was a little kid and, you know, somebody was doing that when he was younger, he would’ve been locked into it.”

Bill Bassett is fully aware of the profound impact his son Bo is making in the world of wrestling. “So honestly I think that you know both changing the sport and many things that he’s doing, not only social media but having fun with it, you know, getting out there, getting after it as a wrestler, and you know, being able to do both,” Bill stated. Bo’s performance at the Ironman Wrestling Tournament was nothing short of dominant. In the semifinals, he delivered a commanding 5-0 win by tech fall over Joseph Sandefer, showcasing his technical prowess and composure.

There are plenty of talents to look into in the current NCAA season in wrestling. However, the fans’ focus has been shifted towards the up-and-coming wrestlers, where Bo Bassett takes a place. The prodigy has been seen visiting many universities, but his recent visit to OSU, where he trained with assistant coach Thomas Gilman, created many conversations in the community.

Day by day, his links to joining the David Taylor-led Cowboys have been getting stronger, and this visit and training session made many speculate he will be a part of the team from the 2026 season.
