Recently, he won by a tech fall over Aidan Arnett and qualified for the semifinals, where he would face Joseph Sandefer.
In the post-match interview featured on Zebulin Miller’s Instagram (@gohiocasts), Bassett opened up about his performances, stating, “Yeah, I think it is something that we do 24/7 in a week. I think I live that way. I’m constantly going extremely hard in training that way, so when I go out on that mat, it’s kind of like a nature and just represents my faith.” He knows about the potential that he carries inside him, and he knows that he’s one of the top prodigies out there. But, he’s still focused on delivering the best every time he gets on that mat, and this event too was no different for him than just a talent showcase.
“We’re looking to win as a team. I think we can definitely do that. We came in here thinking we’re going to, and the talk all week was win it, and scores, made bonus points when we can, and my dad did a good job firing our guys. We think this is probably the biggest event of the year-end season, so we’re ready to go. This is our NCAA, and we’re ready to sprint,“ said Bassett of the goals that he shares with his team. Surely, it’s a big claim that the youngster is making, but his achievements are there to back up his confident words.
