“I’m super excited to announce that I will be wrestling at LIU starting this semester! Fins.” Just when everyone thought that his longtime commitment to the program had been made after a 2-year absence from the varsity scene, AJ Ferrari‘s younger brother, Anthony Ferrari, has made waves yet again. He’s bid adieu to Long Island, mere months after joining, in search of greener pastures and a fresh challenge. And with his departure, all 3 Ferrari brothers find themselves in D1 programs.
So where is Anthony Ferrari off to next? Well, to train under the guidance of the first Black Olympic gold medalist in wrestling—Kenny Monday! Ferrari took to Instagram to announce this new twist in his journey. “I’m proud to announce that I will be transferring and continuing my athletic as well as academic career @morganstateu,” read the caption, along with a series of images of Ferrari clad in the Morgan State University singlet and posing. He also gave a special shoutout to one of his new teammates, sophomore Cort Vann, for hosting him.

Like AJ but unlike Angelo, Anthony Ferrari’s wrestling journey has had its ups and downs. Ferrari graduated from high school in 2022 as an Oklahoma State commit, but he never wrestled for the Cowboys or during the 2022-23 season. Following his spell in Stillwater, Anthony Ferrari, like his brother Angelo, committed to Iowa in 2024. He wrestled unattached in the state of Iowa, including at the Luther Open and the Soldier Salute, even coming away with an 8-1 record. Then in January of this year, Ferrari made his commitment to Long Island University.
And now he finds himself at Morgan State! The path to get here was indeed winding. “@freighttrainferrari 🚂🚂🚂💨 💨 He’s going to be Coached by Kenny Monday @boo.monday 🐐 🐐,” wrote big brother AJ Ferrari in support on his Instagram story, and one can practically hear the hype! After all, we all know who Monday is and what his legacy means! Not just as a coach, but as an icon of American wrestling. I mean, the Olympic gold, for sure, is a highlight, but the other legacy? It’s about mentoring and guiding the next generations. With Anthony Ferrari’s arrival, it looks like a fruitful partnership is in store for both coach and student. But Anthony isn’t the only Ferrari brother who’s been active this offseason.

AJ Ferrari is also making big moves alongside his brother!
Before, Anthony AJ was the Ferrari brother who was hogging the transfer news headlines in the wrestling world. “I am so thankful for Cal State Bakersfield. I am entering the portal today and am considering all opportunities,” posted Ferrari. And then shortly after came his announcement that he was going to become a Tar Heel on FloWrestling Radio Live! An exciting announcement befitting of AJ Ferrari!
Of course, a more formal announcement came shortly after on his X account. “And the crazy thing is… North Carolina Wrestling is Just Beginning to Heat GO TAR HEELS BABY,” he wrote. It was accompanied by a video of Ferrari posing in his new ice blue Tar Heels singlet, alongside his mother and in front of a neon light sign of the Tar Heels’ logo.
