The Iowa State Wrestling team has been the apple of an eye for every wrestling spectator this season. The primary reason behind a massive list of accomplishments by team Iowa State is its remarkable performance last week. Along the same lines, team Iowa State defeated multiple top-ten contenders the previous week to clinch CKLV Title.

Notably, Cyclone’s wrestling squad managed to take over No. 2 NC State, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 6 Cornell, No. 7 Michigan, No. 10 Virginia State, and No. 5 Ohio State. In addition to the CKLV championship win, team Iowa State has bagged yet another honor as the team earns multiple Big 12 and NCAA accolades.

The Cyclones wrestling team comes out best again

A recent tweet by NCAA Wrestling was captioned, “NCAA Team of the Week.” Iowa’s wrestling team has been making waves in the wrestling world with its exceptional performances. Not only this, but the team is also adding golden features to its cap along the way. Recently, the Iowa State wrestling team added the “Team of the Week” honor by NCAA Wrestling for its worthy performances. 

But, the massive list of Cyclones wrestling teams is not only limited to team of the week. Even the individual wrestlers on the team were under the spotlight. Interestingly, Yonger Bastida from Cyclones secured the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honor. In addition, for the fifth week of this season, Bastida shared this honor with Oklahoma State’s Izzak Olejnik. 

The outstanding performances by Iowa State as a whole and individual players portray that the team works on every athlete so that they can display their true colors on the wrestling mat. However, Big 12 Wrestler of the Week and NCAA Team of the Week are not the only accomplishments of the Cyclones this week.

Road ahead for the Cyclones

Team Cyclone concluded last week with the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational title for the first time since 1996. Eventually, Yonger Bastida highlighted the tournament with a title win over Lucas Davison from team Michigan. On the other hand, Will Feldkamp, competing at 184 pounds, featured an impressive run to the final showdown.

After passing with flying colors at the CKLV Wrestling Championships, Cyclones will be taking time off this weekend. The team will be returning to the mats on December 18 at the Collegiate Duals. The epic showdown will be against Pittsburgh, Cornell, and Little Rock. Will the Cyclones be able to keep up with the expectations in the upcoming showdown at Nashville?
