Earlier this month, skateboarder Tony Hawk suffered a broken femur. Hawk himself revealed that this is one of the most serious injuries he’s had in his lifetime. He took to his social media to share photos of his test results, revealing how his age would be a deciding factor during in his recovery.
But all things said and done, the ramp legend is not one to give in to hurdles. Hawk is working extremely hard to get back on his feet and speed up his recovery process, and it shows. Only 4 weeks since his injury and he is already up and about. Not to mention, a broken femur requires at least 4-6 months to heal completely.

Many fans believe Hawk’s access to a good healthcare system is the reason for his speedy recovery. However, that did not sit well with Hawk, and here’s what he had to say in response.

Hawk has been quite regularly updating fans about his recovery process. However, many of these fans think that Hawk only recovered so fast because he is privileged and has access to good healthcare facilities.
To that, Hawk said, “What you don’t see is the work I am putting into my recovery, the pain I endure every day, or the breakdowns I have when it all seems to be a bit too much,” via his Instagram story.

The 53-year-old revealed that he received his healthcare via Blur Cross and it just covered the base with nothing extraordinary going on. It is, however, his physio, who has played a huge role in his recovery.
“She has been very helpful in giving me exercise suggestions to do on my own time,” Hawk said.

The months-long recovery process itself can be really hard. To add to it, such injuries require extra care and tending to at all times. Hawk has confessed that this injury has taken quite a toll on him.
Hawk said, “This has been incredibly hard – and sometimes seems insurmountable.”
Despite the struggle, the skateboarder continues to work extra hard to get back on his feet. He is already back on his skateboard, and it won’t be long before he is fully recovered. And truly, all credit for this goes to Hawk himself and his doctors, who have stood resilient in this process.
