USA Weightlifting is gearing up for the European Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria with eyes set on Paris 2024. The revelation of its formidable squad for the event next week in Bulgaria is igniting anticipation for the Summer Olympics, aiming to secure coveted spots. With the unveiling of 15 top names for the competition, they will soon be competing, further contributing to Bulgaria’s weightlifting heritage.
The capital city Sofia has received the greenlight to host the 2024 Senior European Championships. Initiating on Feb. 12, the weightlifters need to give their best, to secure a berth at Paris 2024.
USA Weightlifting unveils squad

The official Twitter handle of USA Weightlifting took to announce the names of 15 top athletes who will compete at the forthcoming European Championships. The caption reads, “We’re one week out from the start of the European Championships! 🇺🇸 Full schedule and watch info to come following VFE.” The championship will take place between Feb 12 to Feb 20, in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The post further mentions the names of participants for the event, including 6 women and 9 men, besides the weight class. The names of female wrestlers include Taylor Wilkins (59), Meredith Alwine (71), Olivia Reeves (71), Mattie Rogers (81), Kate Vibert (81), and Mary Theisen-Lappen (87+).
Within the men’s category, the names are Hampton Morris (61), Caden Cahoy (73), Ryan Grimsland (73), CJ Cummings (89), and Nathan Damron (89). It also includes Wes Kitts (102), Ryan Sester (102), Alejandro Medina (109+), and Caine Wikes (109+), in the upper weight classes. These athletes are the potential names for the Paris Olympics qualifying rounds besides competing at European Championship.

Paris 2024 quest begins
Sofia, Bulgaria, is the host city for the 2024 Senior European Weightlifting Championships along with the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualification Event. Bulgaria’s rich and intense weightlifting history, which includes the likes of Olympic medalists such as Norair Nurikyan, marks its historic importance in the sport.
