The Water Polo Championship 2024 Draw took place on the competition pool deck in Qatar’s capital Doha. The thrilling World Aquatics Championship 2024 was the qualifying event that paved the path for the men’s and women’s teams to the Paris 2024 Olympics.  The qualified teams for both genders will now compete in the water polo program in Paris.

144 water polo players from 12 finalised countries will be competing in the men’s division at the 2024 Summer Olympics’ Water Polo Tournament. On the other hand, 120 women’s water polo players from 10 selected countries across the globe will compete in the Women’s Water Polo Tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympics. World Aquatics took to its social media account to share an update about the finalized teams for the upcoming biggest event.

Men’s and women’s water polo teams heading to Paris

In the Water Polo Championship 2024, Doha, the United States secured the world championship titles in women’s tournaments, while the country famous for its beaches, Croatia, won the world championship titles in the men’s division. Taking to its official IG handle, World Aquatics took to share the draw results of water polo tournaments. They also revealed Group A and Group B  which have been selected for the Paris 2024 Olympics, captioning the post as “Groups are set for @paris2024 #waterpolo tournaments #roadtoparis2024 #olympics.”


After garnering the triumph in the qualifying event for the Water Polo tournament, the USA women’s team – the strongest team with 3 winning streaks – is now hoping for its fourth-consecutive Olympic title.

Winners at the London 2012 Olympics, the Croatia men’s team is also looking to improve on their fifth-place result from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The reigning-time Olympic champions in men’s water polo, Serbia, has also been finalised to compete at the Paris Olympics.

Countdown to the 2024 Olympics for water polo teams

The qualified 12 countries including France, Greece, Serbia, Hungary, Romania, Montenegro, Italy, Croatia, Spain, the United States, Australia, and Japan will compete in the Men’s Water Polo Tournaments at the upcoming Olympics.

The selective women’s water polo teams are Greece, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Hungary, Canada, the United States, the People’s Republic of China, France, and Australia. Water polo preliminaries for men and women will be held at the Aquatics Centre from July 27 to August 4. Finals will take place at Paris Défense Arena from August 5-11.
