Grant Holloway shone brightly at the World Athletics Championships on Sunday. Not only did the athlete tie his own world record, but also went ahead to win the race. Holloway holds the world record in the 60m hurdles, which was set by him in 2021.

Not to mention, Grant is also the 2019 World Champion in the 110 hurdles. Additionally, he is the silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 110m hurdles.

At the ongoing World Athletics Championships, Grant put on an impressive performance in the semi-finals of the 60m hurdle race. He tied his own record time, making headlines all over.

Grant Holloway shines at the 60m semifinals

In February 2021, Holloway set the World Record for the 60m hurdles. He finished the race with a timing of 7:29 seconds. Fast forward to the 2022 World Athletics, Holloway completed the race in the same time in the semi-finals. He now holds the World Record timing once again.

Grant shared a photo of the race via his Instagram. The shot gives us a glimpse into just how fast the American athlete actually is. Upon first sighting, one would think that the other hurdlers have been cropped out of the photo. But in reality, the distance between the other hurdlers and Grant is an impressive gap.

Grant was way ahead of all his other competitors and completed the race with a timing of 7.29 seconds; Once again, making the new World Indoor record for 60m hurdles.

Prior to the Semifinals, he finished with a timing of 7:40 at the heats. Notably, his winning stint didn’t just stop at the semi-finals. Holloway went on to put on another impressive performance at the 60m hurdle finals and laid his hands on the gold medal. This is Grant’s 57th successive 60m hurdles win.

Praise galore for Holloway

Fellow athletes were quick to congratulate the champion hurdler after his world-record-setting semi-final performance. American sprinter Trayvon Bromell tweeted, “7.29 GOOD GAWDDDDD.”

Even Sprinters Rai Benjamin and Michael Cherry were left impressed by Holloway, who took to Twitter expressing the same.

In fact, Michael commented that it was Grant’s decision to go bald that contributed to his win. While there’s no confirmation for that, what is for sure is that the 24-year-old is the 60m hurdle king, and he is only getting started.
