It’s almost December! Families across the country are already coming together to kick off the festive season as they celebrate Thanksgiving. The traditional homage to the early pilgrims is something that brings people together over a shared sense of heritage. Sharing food with loved ones is something people love bonding over.
However, while a hearty meal is what defines Thanksgiving, not everyone goes ga-ga about all the food items. Big10 athletes have recently shown their dislike of some traditional food items that have become part of the centuries-old tradition.
A take on ‘hyped’ dishes of Thanksgiving

It was on a recent episode of the talk show hosted by former volleyball player Emily Ehman, where the Big10 athletes listed the items. Big 10 volleyball posted the clip on their X with the caption, “What’s the most OVERRATED Thanksgiving food? 🤔@emilyehman asked our B1G 🏐 stars”

The replies were pretty interesting. An Ohio State athlete mentioned stuffing is something they never got into. A Michigan State Spartan was almost shy to reveal that cranberry sauce is an item she rarely used and generally kept on the side. Another Indiana Hoosiers athlete added more woes to the stuffing by mentioning it as an overhyped food item. Amid all these, there was a shocking revelation, however.
The traditional bird gets a bad reputation

Turkey is the staple food that has become synonymous with Thanksgiving. But Northwestern Wildcat is more biased toward ham than the famous bird. Another Big10 athlete from Illinois acknowledged turkey as a “dry” food item that really didn’t sit well with her taste.
Athletes from Maryland, Nebraska Huskers, Rutgers, and Minnesota mentioned the bird yet again. To be precise, as many as nine players listed Turkey in their dislike list. Apart from its dryness, another major reason the players outlined was its blandness. An unexpected item was also listed by an Iowa Hawkeyes volleyball star when she mentioned mashed potatoes.
