The Wisconsin Badgers Women’s Volleyball Team is completely back in its groove after facing some tough losses late in the season. The Badgers recently fulfilled their long-awaited quest for vengeance against arch-rivals Nebraska Huskers to even the season head-to-head record. 

While Wisconsin fired on all pistons as a team, one of its players has also performed exceptionally on an individual level. A social media post recently declared the completion of a magnificent accomplishment by one of Wisconsin’s major defensive players.

Caroline Crawford and her major match-winning milestone

Caroline Crawford, popularly known as CC Crawford, is a senior at the University of Wisconsin. She plays the middle blocker position for the Wisconsin Badgers and is one of their most formidable defensive units. Wisconsin Volleyball triumphantly tweeted about the new milestone Crawford reached in her NCAA career via its official X account. The tweet reads, “The block is hot. The block is HOT.” It refers to Crawford successfully blocking 500 kills in her collegiate volleyball career.

 Her 500th block came on the home court of the Badgers as they defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Wisconsin Badgers played their season finale against the Hawkeyes on 25 November. Greeting Iowa with the traditional Wisconsin welcome, the Badgers thrashed the Hawkeyes down with a clean sweep. Crawford helped her team keep the head of Iowa down as she scored five blocks in the match.

The Badgers scored 12 blocks in the game with Crawford’s aid, which helped them to subdue Iowa. In fact, the Hawkeyes got gutted in the second and the third set with just 10 and 16 points, respectively. Interestingly, Crawford also played a significant role in Wisconsin’s revenge match against Nebraska.

The Wisconsin Badgers went against the Nebraska Huskers on 24 November. The Black Friday match saw Wisconsin completely rupture their arch-rivals as they defeated them with a clean sweep. The Huskers, who are known for converting pinch matches into surprising victories, failed to work their magic against Wisconsin. 

Wisconsin’s Caroline Crawford led the defensive charge for the Badgers and scored four blocks in the match. Interestingly, this was the highest number of blocks scored by players on either side. Moreover, Crawford also outscored the entire team of Nebraska in terms of blocks, as the Huskers could only manage to block three of Wisconsin’s shots.

As the Wisconsin Badgers head into the playoffs on 30 November, they will look forward to clinching the NCAA Championship. The clean-sweeping side of Wisconsin had claimed the national title in 2021. Interestingly, the Badgers had claimed the championship after beating Nebraska in the finals. Will the Badgers be able to lay waste of everyone, including Nebraska once again?
