Where did Kylie Cole start her collegiate career in volleyball?
Born and raised in Coppell, Texas, Kylie Cole started her collegiate volleyball career at Arizona State in 2015-16. Her days with ASU were not long. She kept it limited to two seasons. How was the experience at NC State?
At NC State, Kylie spent the last two eligibility years of her college career. But in her new home, the setter displayed a better performance than in Arizona. In 2017, Cole ended the season with 1,301 assists. A record in the NC State volleyball book! Mainly because of her individual brilliance, the college program reached the second round of NCAA volleyball championships. The feat was a milestone as, before 2017, NC State couldn’t reach that level. Meanwhile, the fans’ expectations of her took a different route for her. Next year, the fans wanted Kylie to continue the race. She did eventually.

In her senior year, Kylie collected 1,189 assists. Her all-over number posed a record average value of 10.73 assists per set. Also, in other lists, the setter had 574 digs, 151 kills, and 135 total blocks, achieved in 232 sets. That’s how she ended her phenomenal collegiate career. The ending of her college career initiated another beginning. That was her professional career. Nonetheless, Kylie Cole earned a long list of honors from the AVCA.
Cole received accolades including AVCA All-America, AVCA All-East Region, and All-ACC First Team recognition. In 2018, she achieved AVCA All-East Region honors and was named second-team All-ACC after finishing second in the ACC.
What were the setter’s professional assignments?
Last year, Kylie Cole played for Atlanta Vibe in the Pro Volleyball Federation league. The engagement with the league at the nascent stage made her elated. Simultaneously, her then-squad Atlanta Vibe made her feel at home in the squad. The proof was visible in one of her interactions with the PVF.
In that interaction, Cole said, “One of the things that I’d said is this team, if you didn’t know someone prior to this meeting as a group for the first time, we clicked immediately. And everybody was on such a high, getting to know each other, laughing, joking around, doing funny dances or TikToks with each other. So I think you’re going to see a group that, one, has each other’s back on and off the court, but also is going to go out there and really compete hard and strive to win that first championship in 2024.” In October, she broke her ties with the squad and joined San Diego Mojo.

Alongside her experience with the Mojo and the Vibe, Cole participated in Athletes Unlimited, where she played in the league during the 2020-21 season. In the 2019-20 season, she started her professional career with Terville-Florange OC in France, helping them achieve ninth place in the French Cup.
Now, in her second inning, Kylie Cole is hopeful to meet the expectations manifested in her. She quickly accepted the call and embraced the culture in Mojo. Shedding light on that, she once said, “Even though I wasn’t with the team for the full 2024 season, San Diego quickly felt like home to me, so when I got the call from Coach Tayyiba [Haneef-Park] about returning I was more than excited to accept the offer. I can’t wait to get in the gym with the rest of this group and get to work come training camp.” Now, it’s showtime.
