Stepping on the court for her first professional match since 2021, the opposite hitter Juliann Faucette landed 13 kills. No wonder she hoisted the player of the match title and earned pats on her back from the entire Austin lot. But the most inspirational aspect about her is the fact that she returned from her motherhood break to play professional volleyball. Guess that passion never does, does it?

The LOVB Austin vs Madison match MVP, Juliann Faucette is a volleyball player with immense experience. She was a freshman at the University of Texas in 2007 and went on to rack up collegiate volleyball accolades with the side till 2010. Some of her greatest wins? Faucette was a 3x All-American who helped Texas to 3 on-the-trot NCAA Semifinal appearances, including the maiden one in 1995.

Simultaneously, Juliann Faucette also put her name on the global map! She played throughout Europe and China, expanding her career internationally. She also played for the USA National Team in the USA Volleyball Cup, the FIVB World Grand Prix, and the Pan-American Cup. Thus, she comes with immense experience behind her.

But in 2017, she stood at an emotional crossroads. Weighing the options between her volleyball career and motherhood, Juliann Faucette packed up her shoes for a few years. During these, she gave birth to three adorable kids, her son Tre and her twins Ruby and George. Soon after her son was born, she agreed to an offer and moved to Bermago, Italy to play a season beyond the international waters. And when she returned, Faucette was ready to transition to another role.

A player, a mom, what next? Well, after the brief gap, Juliann Faucette joined the St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin as Program Director of Volleyball and Sports Information Director. She also kept herself busy in 2024 by making a comeback with the Longhorns. This time, she was on the staffing bench, as a Player Development Consultant.

Very soon, she dropped the mega news— Faucette had signed with League One Volleyball and was geared up to continue her professional career in the United States.

Juliann Faucette ruled the Friday afternoon match against LOVB Madison. With a hitting perfect of .600, the outside hitter presented more than just a teaser of her skills. And when she was made the MVP of the match, Faucette confessed why exactly she pushes herself at this stage of her career. “I put in a lot of time, a lot of work, to get back into shape and I feel better than I have in a long time in my playing career…. the purpose is I have kids and I want to show them that this is possible and there are young women in this league who need to see that,” she said.

And if becoming a role model for the rest is her goal, she is truly hitting it out of the park. Not only did former Longhorn and LOVB Austin contemporary Madisen Skinner give her the perfect shout-out on her roaring comeback, but Asija O’Neal commented on LOVB’s post featuring Juliann Faucette saying, “You inspire me every day @julianfaucette you a DAWG!!!” Even Texas alum and LOVB Austin player Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres chimed in with, “I wanna be like you when I grow up.”
