Jordan Larson knows how to manage wearing multiple hats. The four-time Olympic medalist had to juggle two roles last season. She had been appointed as the assistant coach of the Nebraska Huskers volleyball team, her former camp. On the other hand, Larson had a key role in the inaugural League One Volleyball (LOVB) tournament. What was that? Well, Larson is the founding athlete of her current squad (LOVB Omaha) in the professional volleyball league. Altogether, she had a busy season last year, but she never dropped her duties. Steadily, Jordan Larson attended Huskers’ games and made herself available in Omaha’s sessions, and she never said no. Is there someone of that stature in the current crops?

Fret not. The Jet Award Foundation took up the responsibility to search for the sporting individuals who had the spark. Recently, they found someone worthy and announced her as the recipient of an award. Yes, the award is in Jordan’s name. But do you have a detailed idea regarding the award and anything about the winner? Here is the scoop.

Who won the inaugural Jordan Larson Award?

On January 2, the X-handle of Nebraska women’s basketball shared a glittery post. In the caption, the handle wrote, “proud of our homegrown Husker. The Jet Award Foundation honors Britt Prince with the inaugural Jordan Larson Award for the most outstanding high school girls athlete in Nebraska.” What makes Britt Prince the first recipient of the award? The freshman has lots of reasons to bag the title. Primarily, she ticks all the boxes that the qualification demands.

The Elkhorn North alum beat 13 candidates on the list to become the champion. Specifically, her dominant run in her high school career helped her to cruise past her opponents. But what was special about her in high school? During her high school years, she won the Class B basketball titles four times and made her place on the All-Nebraska first team four times. She also left her impact in the state meet.

Britt Prince competed in the Wolves’ record-setting 1600 and 3200 relay events. Her fireworks in the 400 and 800 m earned her six gold state track medals. For such all-around performances, the Nebraska athlete has been named as the inaugural recipient of the Jordan Larson Award. But do you have any knowledge of the actual prize and the date of the award ceremony?

What is the actual award, and when will it be given?

In November last year, Mike’l Severe, the executive director of The Jet Award Foundation, introduced the Jordan Larson Award. At the same moment, he revealed the 14 nominees from different sports backgrounds, hailing from Nebraska. Now in January, we have the winner’s name. But do we know about the actual award? The published data says that Joe Putjenter, famous for shaping the Jet Award and Mr. Football trophies, created the inaugural trophy. Britt Prince will receive it at the 14th annual Jet Award Gala at the Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska.

Britt’s final selection saw a lot more hassle. Why? She had Gretna softball player Alexis Jensen and Gretna East soccer player Sonora DeFini on the final list to compete with. The jury board took the final call, but before that, the votes from the media experts and high school contributors reached them in the final third. Now, the pomp is scheduled for April 10 when the award ceremony will be hosted. Are you excited about it?
