Five-time national champion Nebraska is keen on taking the forthcoming NCAA tournament with all their might. And, now with the recent rankings this Sunday, they will be bringing the first two games home for the tournament. The next couple of weekends will thus be an exhilarating experience for the Nebraska Huskers.

For the 2023 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship, the Nebraska volleyball team rose to the position of No. 1 overall seed this Sunday night. Receiving the seed position in the tournament for the first time since 2016 was an extremely emotional moment for the Huskers. Let’s take a look at their reaction.

Nebraska Volleyball recently posted a video of the Huskers volleyball team on their Instagram handle reacting to being elected the No. 1 seed. The clip was posted with the caption, “sending you into the week with some wholesome selection show reactions 🫶 #GBR.” The video shows all the Huskers players gathered around.


The video played the 2023 Regular Season Highlights, titled “Bringing in the Crowds.” It listed the notable achievements of the Nebraska Huskers attracting the crowds. These include drawing record crowd for a women’s sporting event, on Aug 30 (92,300). At least six matches drew 10,000 fans. Moreover, Minnesota at Wisconsin match on Oct 29, became the most-watched women’s college volleyball match. The players bonded over the announcement that followed soon after that enlisted them as the No. 1 overall seed & hosting.

Huskers to open the postseason against Long Island

Nebraska will be opening the postseason this Friday, December 1 against Long Island sharp at 7 pm CST at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Long Island team was the champions of the Northeast Conference, as they went 13-18 on the season. The team that will win this Friday will be meeting in the second round the following day on Dec. 2, once again at 7 p.m. The Huskers also emerged as the top overall seed in the following years: 2000, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2016.

Nebraska Huskers will host the first and second rounds of volleyball this upcoming Friday and Saturday. The top four overall seeds include Stanford, Wisconsin, and Pittsburg, as specified in the given order. It will be the 42 straight NCAA Tournament appearance for the Huskers. And, they are set to host the first round for the 38 time, to open it. As the first-round matchup is around the corner, Nebraska Huskers are preparing with full zeal to face Long Island University.
