The tweet also mentioned that the previous record was made just three days ago on 14 December during the semifinals. Several sections of the crowd kept cheering and going silent as the match progressed. However, the second set saw the Texas Longhorns fans going wild while Huskers fans watched their team lose.
A first-set loss wasn’t something hard to come out from for the Huskers. Husker Radio Network RJ John Baylor showed some optimism after the Texas Longhorns won the first set. He mentioned while delivering commentary that Nebraska had won three out of four matches in 2023 despite a set one loss. But, as the match progressed, the Huskers fans never got to see the comeback they desperately wanted.

The situation for the Huskers kept getting worse as more time passed. Fans and John Baylor were thinking of Nebraska’s reverse sweep against Penn State. However, the Texas Longhorns didn’t give the Huskers any room to make a comeback as Asjia O’Neal granted Texas an 11-point run with her serves.
The commentary box saw John Baylor saying, “Huskers have lost 17 of the last 20 rallies” when the match had reached a do-or-die point. When the final whistle was blown, the Texas Longhorns defeated Nebraska with a horrific score of 25-22, 25-14, and 25-11.
