After clinching the spot in the NCAA Sweet-16 spot, the Texas Longhorns made it to the top-8 by defeating Texas A&M (3-0), SMU (3-0), and Tennessee (3-2) along the way. However, in the following set, Texas was overpowered by the opponent team Stanford by 25-15. Texas Longhorns could emerge victorious in the event by clinching the last two sets of the enthralling showdown by 19-25 and 22-25.
