In a thrilling display of shuffle, the Texas Christian University (TCU) Volleyball team pulled off an upset against the No. 20-ranked Baylor. This victory marks a significant milestone in the 2023 campaign for the TCU team. The match, which took place in five sets, ended with TCU surprisingly defeating Baylor with scores of 20-25, 14-25, 25-22, 26-24, 16-14.

This victory is particularly noteworthy as it is TCU’s second road win over the Bears after 2015 & 2022 volleyball season. This victory is indeed a program-defining one for TCU, marking a significant step forward in their journey. However, their caliber will be tested later in the tournament, but this win will play a crucial role in determining the points table standing.

Coming back strong after debacle

The TCU Volleyball team thrashed Baylor after two sets of upsets. Showing a ravishing comeback, they ruled Baylor for the rest of five sets. The TCU faced a formidable opponent in Baylor, a team renowned for its prowess on the volleyball court. Baylor ranked No. 20, entered the match as the favorite, but TCU proved that rankings don’t always predict the outcome. NCAA women’s volleyball tweeted highlighting the outcome of the match, “OHHHH TO BE A HORNED FROG 🐸@TCUvolleyball upsets No. 20 Baylor in a reverse sweep 🧹”

What was considered a mere underdog proved to be an upsetter for Baylor. Tailing with 57 kills, 76 digs, and an outstanding 10.5 blocks, the TCU swayed away the Baylor. The kill barrage was led by Melanie Parra, the outside hitter for the TCU, who tallied a team-high 24 kills on the night with 15 digs. The saga continued as they clocked double-digit blocks for the 13th time in the current volleyball season.

First Ranked Win of the Season for TCU

The Texas Christian University (TCU) women’s volleyball team has a significant performance in the 2023 season. They secured their first ranked win of the season by defeating No. 20 Baylor on the road. The Horned Frogs, led by Jalyn Gibson, triumphed over Baylor with a 3-1 victory at the Ferrell Centre.
