The NCAA Volleyball fever is at an all-time high now, and four top teams have qualified for the Final Four, also known as the NCAA Semifinals. However, while the fun of the festivities is still on for some, there is still sorrow for those who were left in the Sweet 16 or the Elite Eight. That bittersweet story played out for one of the NCAA’s most legendary teams, Purdue Volleyball. The No. 4-seeded Purdue Boilermakers lost in the NCAA Regional Semifinals to No. 1-seeded Louisville in straight sets 17-25, 18-25, 18-25. Despite the loss, it was a season for the history books! Finishing the season at 27-7 (16-4 Big Ten), this was the second year at 27 wins under legendary head coach Dave Shondell who has been at the helm for 22 years.

From Raven Colvin shattering the career block assists record to Shondell becoming Purdue’s all-time winningest coach, the Boilermakers piled on accomplishments, including the Big Ten regular-season attendance record. Oh, and their .280 hitting percentage for a season, which ranks as the third-best in the program’s history. Talk about leaving a legacy. But now, as the curtain closes on this blockbuster season, all eyes are on what’s next. New opportunities are on the horizon for fresh faces eager to perform and a shake-up is on the horizon in the transfer market. Yes, you read that correctly; some of the best players of Purdue are shifting to the transfer market, and fans are left with questions and mixed feelings.

Lincoln Arneal, the go-to for Nebraska Volleyball coverage at Huskers Illustrated, upped the ante on X with a thread sharing that not one, not two, but four Purdue players have chosen to transfer. Yup, four. The thread kicked off with this bombshell: “Purdue sophomore hitter Chloe Chicoine has entered the transfer portal, according to sources. The 5-foot-10 outside hitter averaged 3.08 kills and 2.95 digs for the Boilermakers this year. She is a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was a third-team All-American as a freshman.” Chloe’s name alone caused a stir within the fandom but Lincoln did not stop there from dropping more surprises.

The following post explained that middle blocker Lourdès Myers also entered the transfer shuffle with only one year of remaining eligibility. And the plot thickened with another twist: “Purdue redshirt sophomore Lizzie Carr has also entered the transfer portal. The 6-foot-6 middle blocker appeared in 21 matches this year and averaged 1.12 kills and .9 blocks per set while hitting .301.” And the NCAA Volleyball fans? Well, they were left scratching their heads, wondering why so many players are distancing themselves from the Boilermakers’ court.

The comment section wasn’t holding back, with one user diving straight into the chaos: “Is everything okay at Prude? It’s crazy that four players entered the portal on the same day despite having a good season.” And yep, buckle up, because there’s a fourth player too! Lincoln wasn’t done stirring the pot, dropping yet another jaw-dropper: “Purdue junior outside hitter Eva Hudson has entered the transfer portal, per sources.” Oh, and Hudson isn’t just any player—she’s a star.

What’s your perspective on:

Why are Purdue's top players jumping ship after such a stellar season? What's really going on?

Have an interesting take?

Eva Hudson is the Big Ten leader in kills per set with 4.81 while boasting a .287 hitting percentage this year. Let’s not forget her stacked resume: Midwest Region Player of the Year, second-team All-American last year, and three-time All-Big Ten selection. However, instead of answers, this NCAA Volleyball announcement drove fans directly into another level of confusion.

Volleyheads are confused over Purdue’s transfer portal!

Another user on X couldn’t help but chime in, throwing in their two cents: “How many is that from Purdue? Geez, they had a good team this year.” And honestly, they’re not wrong—because the Boilermakers did have a squad that was turning heads. Right before Purdue’s challenging defeat to Louisville, this team was out here dominating. In the NCAA Volleyball Second Round, they steamrolled Loyola Chicago with a clean sweep: 25-20, 25-21, 25-12. The win, in Purdue’s Holloway Gymnasium, made them the first team to qualify for the Regional Semifinals.

And of course, the comment section brought its A-game, with one user joking, “Starting to feel like I’m the only one who isn’t in the portal.” Honestly, with the way things are going, it’s starting to feel like anyone who’s ever stepped foot in West Lafayette is grabbing a ticket to Transferville. But humor aside, the situation’s raising some real eyebrows. Another user didn’t hold back, pointing out, “Seems like a lot of people are leaving West Lafayette.” Four key players waving goodbye in quick succession have fans caught between confusion and concern.

Another user jumped in, asking, “What is going on at Purdue?” Four players hitting the transfer portal has everyone talking, but it’s not all drama and exits. Back in November, Coach Dave Shondell introduced the 2025 signing class, and these four fresh faces are straight-up stars: Isabelle Bardin, Addy Tindall, Aniya Warren, and Morgan Williams.

Isabelle Bardin, the 6’3” setter and MVP, has 403 kills, 306 assists, and so on. Addy Tindall? Indiana’s best hitter, setting records and winning a national championship as if it is just another day. Next, we have Aniya Warren, the number one libero in the country and just a pure defense player. And, of course, there’s Morgan Williams, who, at 6’3”, has a .340 hitting percentage and is having a blast with kills. And while NCAA Volleyball fans are still trying to figure out what happened to the portals, Purdue’s next team is looking pretty solid!
