Earlier this month, Lexi Rodriguez dropped a pleasant surprise for her fans, shattering records and announcing her next big move. “Lexi Rodriguez will continue her volleyball career with LOVB. She will join Justine Wong-Orantes, who she just passed for No. 1 on Nebraska’s all-time dig chart,” wrote Huskers Illustrated’s Lincoln Arneal on X. Soon after the announcement, Rodriguez posted her excitement on social media. This one was short and sweet, Lexi said, “On to the next chapter!! So excited for this opportunity to play in the States and no other place I would want to start than Nebraska.”

After bidding farewell to her amazing collegiate experience, Rodriguez enthusiastically introduced her new chapter—joining League One Volleyball’s LOVB Omaha squad. She won’t be leaving Nebraska anytime soon, as she gets set to join the team in Omaha for some serious practice. Now, as Lexi Rodriguez gears up to return to Nebraska, she’s turning to her fans for a little help—to escape the harsh reality.

On December 29, Lexi Rodriguez took to TikTok to share a quick glimpse of her journey back to Nebraska. In the video, she’s behind the wheel, coffee in hand, and the caption reads, “driving 5 hours back to nebraska someone convince me im still on the husker volleyball team by time i get there.” The vibe was laid-back yet hopeful as she cruised down the highway and it appears from her post that the former Husker is not been able to come to terms with the fact that she is no more a Husker. And honestly, how can it be so easy for her? After all, things did end with a kind of heartbreak, but her time at NU was quite something to be remembered.

After Lexi Rodriguez’s final game as a Husker ended in heartbreak, losing to Penn State in the NCAA semifinals, Lexi Rodriguez reflected on her incredible career. With 15 digs, she surpassed Justine Wong-Orantes’ school record of 1,890 career digs, finishing with a total of 1,897. However, that bittersweet achievement couldn’t really help her overcome the pain of ending her college volleyball career with such a bitter defeat.
