And the streak lives on. Northwestern tried to put an end to the new 5 game-winning streak of the Illinois women?s volleyball team but failed. The Illini registered a close win against the rival on Wednesday night at Huff Hall. With the home game advantage, Illini made sure that Northwestern did not go on to steal the victory streak. Caroline Barnes was the shining armor on the defensive with 18 digs, while Carrie Bohm with five blocks held the momentum. A team-high 40 assists by Brooke Mosher was also instrumental in keeping the streak going.
However, it was one player who took away a major share of the spotlight with her performance. The player who was shining through the intense game showed pure dominance and athleticism. She led the way with 22 kills, which makes it her eighth match this season with 20 or more kills.
A ‘Terry’fic performance by Raina

The player of the hour was Raina Terry. Her game has shown nothing but consistency and great promise. The match against Northwestern was the eighth match for Terry, where she scored 20 and more kills. Her performance has gotten better and better with every game. With her 22 kills, she is one of the key players responsible for registering the victory for the team. It wasn?t just a simple victory for the team. It was a historic moment for Raina Terry and every team member present during the game. Terry became the first player in the history of Illinois and the only active player of Big 10 player to reach the milestone of 1500 kills and 150 service aces. With the winning streak and Raina Terry?s performance throughout the games. This news comes as the most glorious cherry at the top for the Illini.

And the volleyball win streak lives
An ace by Barnes put Illini in a 4-0 run. Claiming the 12-11 advantage, Wildcat took the timeout. Northwestern turned the game to their advantage with a 16-13 lead. Illini added a 3-0 run and both the teams battled at the edge of 20-19 until both of them were toe-to-toe at the 23. Mosher and Jessica Nunge closed that frame registering a 25-23 victory in favor of Illinois.

By the opening set, Terry had already registered nine of the 14 kills of the team. The second set started with a dominating 8-1 run and ended with Mosher closing it for 25-22 in favor of Illini. They went toe to toe with the last set. Keeping the score on the edge making the game intense, Northwestern was not the one to give up. They reached the edge of 19 when Illini called in a timeout. Coming back, Nunge pulled the ball and to even the score with a terrific shot by Terry, the game closed in favor of the Illini with a clean sweep of sets.
