The Nebraska Volleyball roster has hardly ever looked better than it did in 2024. Balance, passion, skill, they had it all. But as 5 seniors bid adieu to the red jersey this year, they’ve now carried their magic to their respective new homes. Thanks to this, the Atlanta Vibe has hit a jackpot!
In December 2024, when the second-ever Pro Volleyball Federation draft kicked off, The Vibe secured Merritt Beason, an outside hitter from Nebraska Volleyball as the No. 1 overall pick. And it looks like the debutant is already hitting the ground running and making waves on the court. No wonder, The Vibe clan is flaunting her off too!

The Atlanta Vibe treated the fans on January 2nd with a TikTok video that got everyone buzzing. It showed Merritt Beason on a kills spree! The clip featured the former Nebraska Volleyball star crushing it on the Georgia State court, with seven jaw-dropping skills that make her skills look textbook perfect! Even the Atalanta Vibe captioned her greatness rather casually, “Oh nothing just Merritt Beason.”
As the 6’4 player pulled off these kills in the video, Beason’s approach, vertical jump, and ball-hitting force, everything appeared on point. But do you know what the best part was? No one seemed to have an answer to Beason’s unbreakable attacks on the other side of the net! It shows that she’s bringing the heat this season, which led her new team to warn the viewers, “Merb is on fire!!”
And as excited as the Atlanta Vibe was to boast her form, Beason’s fans were equally thrilled to watch the Nebraska Volleyball turned-pro star nail it in her new team. It felt like for a minute, they must have been reminded of her October 10 match against Purdue. In the game, she single-handedly aced 22 kills, her season’s highest!
Naturally, the enthusiasts were quick to flood the comment section with reactions.
Fans are loving ex Nebraska Volleyball star, Merritt Beason’s renewed form
Merrit Beason’s been a fan favorite from her days in Nebraska Volleyball. Even now, watching her nail the kills, one fan wrote, “She’s just that girlll.” Well, imagine having 1359 career kills over 4 years of your collegiate volleyball career in Florida and Nebraska! And the season highest touching 455. Wouldn’t one be a star figure then? Of course, they will.
No wonder, now that she’s starting to put her skills on display in Georgia, one of the fans reacted, “I am so excited to see her at Atlanta! Might as well win the championships.” And honestly, that’s quite a possibility. Well, the Atlanta Vibe wrapped up their inaugural season by becoming the regular season champions. As a result, it has naturally set the expectation bar sky-high for this year.
And now, fans believe that with Merritt Beason in peak form, the Vibe might actually pull off what the Omaha Supernovas did last season. Call it coincidence or not, the opening match for Merritt Beason and Co. is also scheduled with the 2024 PVF champions, on January 10.

Another enthusiast chimed in with, “True icon herself” for the former Nebraska Volleyball star, Beason. Indeed, if one looks at her career history, this statement rings a bell. She has won two consecutive SEC championships with the Huskers and was part of the Big Red team that reached the NCAA finals last year. Alas, they couldn’t replicate that success this time, although the Big Ten Conference title was more than compensation for that.
Merritt Beason was also a two-year team captain for No. 2 Nebraska. Likewise, she was named an AVCA First-Team All-American last season. Thus, she has the skills that led a fan to comment, “ateee it uppp mer“, as well as the ability to lead the pack. That’s because she comes with diverse experience.
