A few weeks ago, the NCAA Volleyball Championships reached their thrilling climax, and Penn State became the 2024 NCAA Volleyball Champions. A pulsating victory over Louisville was achieved with the Nittany Lions taking the match to four sets, 25-23, 32-34, 25-20, and 25-17. Outstanding for Penn State was Jess Mruzik, who earned 29 kills, 14 digs, and four blocks, and scored 33 points for the triumph.
On the other side, Louisville’s Charitie Luper made a difference with 21 kills, six digs, and 21.5 points, making the Cardinals fight until the last set. However, as the NCAA season draws to a close, the world of volleyball just gets more and more thrilling. Even more interesting is the fact that the stars from Penn State and Louisville Volleyball are now teammates after the NCAA season!
Charitie Luper, Louisville’s powerhouse outside hitter, has officially graduated and is playing for the Vegas Thrill in the Pro Volleyball Federation. Camryn Hannah, Penn State’s talented outside hitter, joins her in this exciting new chapter! Recently, Luper took to TikTok to share a fun behind-the-scenes moment as both athletes suited up in Vegas Thrill jerseys ahead of PVF’s second season. In the video, Luper sat comfortably in a chair while Hannah danced and celebrated in her usual lively style, adding an extra layer of excitement to the moment.

The playful energy between them was clear, and Luper couldn’t help but poke fun with a caption that read, “POV: she beats me in the national championship and won’t stop joking about it,” while she playfully added, “It’s okay we’re teammates now!” The video perfectly captures the transition from fierce rivals to united teammates. Charitie Luper and Camryn Hannah, once opponents on the court, are now embracing a shared journey in the Pro Volleyball Federation.
As Charitie Luper and Camryn Hannah gear up to play together on the same team after their intense battles in the finals, the rivalry between their former teams, Penn State and Louisville, has been nothing short of fascinating. While their first clash dates back to 1982, historically, the Cardinals and the Nittany Lions haven’t faced off too many times—only 10 times as of 2024. Despite the relatively limited encounters, Penn State has dominated with eight wins compared to Louisville’s two.
The Lions have been able to demonstrate a home team bias, which has seen them record all their victories at home. Also, despite two home wins, Louisville’s success was limited to their home turf; they suffered losses to Penn State in away and neutral games. And now that these two standout players are set to unite on the Vegas Thrill roster, many are curious about the Pro Volleyball Federation itself. What exactly is this league all about? When does it kick-off?

The Pro Volleyball Federation is all about the development of the sport and giving players a chance to play the sport after college. Since its announcement in 2022, PVF entered the scene in 2024 and some of the teams include the Atlanta Vibes and the Omaha Supernovas. With Nebraska’s rich volleyball history, fans packed the stadium to witness the league’s potential firsthand. Now, with CBS Sports taking over for a multi-year deal, the league is reaching even more fans with up to 20 matches to be aired in 2025.
In the backdrop of the competition, it is interesting to see what Charitie Luper and Camryn Hannah will bring to Vegas Thrill as teammates. These two talented athletes, who faced off in intense matches just days ago, are now joining forces to bring their best game to the Pro Volleyball Federation. It is going to be an interesting ride for sure—so what do you think about competitors turning into allies in such a short time? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
