In 2022, the Pittsburgh Panthers lost in the semifinal match against the same opponent Louisville. Interestingly on that occasion also, they lost 3-2 to their opponents.

Just like this year, that match also kept the spectators on the edge of their seats, being a five-set thriller. In the previous year’s match, the Panthers started out losing the first set 18-25. They bounced back in the second set to take it 25-23. Louisville regained control in the third set claiming it 25-22. Pittsburgh, fighting valiantly handed a similar 25-22 to Louisville in the fourth set. However, Louisville reigned supreme as they took the final set and the match 15-2.
