The women’s team of Penn State Volleyball claimed a breezy clean sweep victory against the Ohio State University Buckeyes. OSU looked sharp when the match between the two sides started. However, it soon faltered and succumbed to a home court defeat.

The Penn State Volleyball team entered the 24 November game against OSU with 20 wins in their bag. Apparently, this was the final match of the season for the Nittany Lions. A social media post declared the result of the season-ender as Penn State closed the season in a sweeping fashion.

Penn State Volleyball cripples the OSU offense

The women’s team of Penn State Volleyball played against the OSU Buckeyes in an away game. While the Buckeyes seemed to leverage the home-court advantage against the Nittany Lions, their attack completely fell through in the second set. Penn State Women’s Volleyball tweeted about the triumph of its squad via its official X account. The tweet carried the caption, “Six straight wins to end the regular season.” 

The initial set saw both sides fight for a deuce, which Penn State Volleyball won with a score of 27-25. However, while the fans of the home team expected them to retaliate harder in the second set, OSU could score just 12 points.

This made the comeback journey even harder for the Buckeyes, who failed to win the third set and lost with a close score of 23-25. In fact, the Lions crippled the offense of OSU so badly, that their average hit rate during the match got reduced to 0.057 percent. Thus, the match ended up with the Nittany Lions cleaning the mess of OSU with their brooms.

The women’s team of Penn State Volleyball faced several pitfalls this season. The powerhouse team is currently lagging behind several big players at the fourteenth rank in the NCAA standings. However, the six-match winning streak momentum can greatly help the Nittany Lions in the upcoming playoffs.

The first round of NCAA playoffs starts on 30 November

While the Penn State Nittany Lions may be behind in the overall NCAA rankings, they currently rank third in the Big Ten Conference. The powerhouse team is the second-most successful women’s volleyball program in NCAA history and has seven championships under its belt. Recently, they defeated the Wisconsin Badgers in a five-set thriller, Alongside, they almost surpassed the number one ranking Nebraska Huskers as well.

The women’s team of Penn State Volleyball will prepare for the first round of the NCAA playoffs with great momentum and a winning mindset owing to their tail-end season exploits.
