The calendar displays the beginning of a new season, but nothing is different for the Wisconsin Badgers women’s volleyball team. The Badgers are continuing their onslaught from the previous season into this one and are defeating teams left and right. The number 1 ranked team recently crushed another foe with a clean sweep, as they continued their winning bulldozer.

Wisconsin Badgers has some of the most gifted women volleyball players specializing in all domains of the sport. The Badgers made quick work of the first set as they won via a staggering margin of 25-15. Wisconsin’s Sarah Franklin didn’t allow any space to Maryland in the first set and dropped eight kills to snuff them out. The initial pressure didn’t allow Maryland to rise again, giving Wisconsin an easy win.

A tweet posted by Big Ten Volleyball posted a video clip of the final kill that ended the story for Maryland. The tweet carried the caption, “27 STRAIGHT SETS No. 1 @BadgerVB continues to dominate with a 3-0 win vs. Maryland.” The clean sweep marked the 27th straight-set win for Wisconsin or nine consecutive flawless matches. The amazing setup in the first set made the second and third sets completely easy for Wisconsin.

The Terrapins completely fell through in the second set as Wisconsin posted a 4-0 lead, which ended in a 25-12 win. Maryland responded strongly in the third set and were leading at one point with 14-11. However, the Badgers took a timeout before things slipped further away, and returned to reduce the third set to a 25-16 win. The steel-knit defense and towering offense of Wisconsin didn’t allow Maryland’s volleyball team to touch 20 points in any set. While the win further solidified the Numero Uno status of the Badgers, a rival team may soon challenge them for the apex position.
