The NCAA women’s volleyball has become the ground zero for several unbelievable moments. The high-voltage tournament recently witnessed a dramatic upset as the USC Trojans women’s volleyball team defeated the mighty Arizona State. The Women of Troy displayed a formidable performance and shut down their opponents with a nail-biting clean sweep. 

The women’s volleyball team of Arizona State entered the home territory of the Trojans as the 15th-ranked AVCA team. However, according to the latest social media upload, it has slipped down by two spots. In fact, the post also showed that USC has clean-swept its way into the top 25 after the win.

The USC Trojans women’s volleyball team registered their 16th win of the NCAA season by beating the Arizona State Sun Devils. The Trojans knew they were facing a top-ranked team and thus didn’t allow any opportunities for the opposition to stand up. NCAA Women’s Volleyball posted an image of the AVCA rankings of the teams after the 11th week of the season. The teams were ranked and tallied according to the Taraflex poll of coaches. The image clearly showed the displacement of Arizona state while USC slid its way to the 25th spot.

 

This was the second straight clean sweep victory registered by the Trojans. Before this, USC beat another Arizona team, the Arizona Wildcats, to bolster their position in the league. The Mighty Arizona State Sun Devils put up a great fight while on the road. However, despite posting almost similar stats, it was the Trojans who stood victorious with a score of 25-23, 25-23, and 25-16.

The Women of Troy answered every question thrown their way by the Sun Devils. On the other hand, the Sun Devils failed to turn the tide during key moments and lost a close game. Comparing both sides directly, USC scored 45 kills compared to Devils’ 43, while completing 39 assists to Devils’ 37.

In terms of service aces, USC aced four serves while Arizona State aced five. The defensive effort also clashed as USC made 48 digs while the Sun Devils made 50. Moreover, the Devils had almost won the first two sets, but the Trojans halted them at 23 points.

Despite the great fight they put up, the women of Arizona State ran out of juice in the final set. Failing to push the scoreboard beyond 16 points, they lost the final set, slipping down by two spots. With this, the women’s volleyball team at USC is now on a three-match winning streak. Will they be able to continue their victory run and reach a higher rank?
