Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn is a true hero in the Alpine skiing world, but her impact goes beyond the slopes. With her hard work and dedication, she has helped many young girls’ dreams take flight. This time, she has found another platform to make a difference in other young athletes’ lives. Boardroom declared her support for League One Volleyball on Instagram with a banner featuring her picture at the top with the caption, “This is volleyball’s era”. Lindsey Vonn is also backing the league with the hope it will enrich the lives of young volleyball players.

The USA Women’s Volleyball team made history in the 2020 Tokyo Games by bagging two gold medals. But the sport still remained almost unrecognized in America. The doting fans had been wanting to support the players but had no means of doing so. Left Lane Capital and Ares Management Funds came together to design the concept for League One Volleyball. Vonn was ecstatic to lend her support when the league owners connected with her for the cause.
She said, “With over 200 million girls involved in the sport globally, this is a huge opportunity to continue providing a platform for young women to excel… It’s about empowering the next generation of female athletes and fostering a strong sense of community within the sport”. With her support, the LOVB has taken a vital step forward.

LOVB gears up for a game-changing season
Olympian Jordyn Poulter, World Cup winner Amy Griffin, and renowned comedienne Amy Schumer have also invested in the league. With the backing of so many celebrities, League One Volleyball has raised $35 million already for the Series B funding. Katlyn Gao, the league’s co-founder and CEO, has promised to use this multi-million dollar enterprise to make an impact in the lives of young athletes.
She said, “At LOVB, we are creating an all-new narrative for women in sports, including in this round, which again captured over 50% female investors”. The league will be in full swing sometime in the next year. The Women’s League has already declared the first five clubs in Houston, Salt Lake, Omaha, Atlanta, and Madison.

With the Paris Olympics looming in the background, this was the most opportune time for the league to start. It will give the volleyball legends scope to hone their skills and repeat their 2020 winning performance.
