On October 21st, the Wisconsin Badgers faced a loss. In the highly anticipated match against the No. 2 team, Nebraska Huskers, the team lost their first spot while bringing the most recorded TV audience in college volleyball; 612,000 fans viewed the game on Big Ten Network, making it the most watched regular season volleyball broadcast. In the match that pulled more audience than the Nebraska-Northwestern football match on Saturday, the Badgers faced a defeat with a 3-2 score.

However, following this setback, the Wisconsin Badgers regained their form. The team, with a doubtful start, showcased their skills against Michigan State Spartans in the next two sets to make an extraordinary comeback. After this win, the Badgers also posted a heartwarming update on social media.

Badgers post a heartwarming volleyball update

On October 28th, Wisconsin Volleyball posted a victorious update on X. According to the tweet, “Badgers bounced back and brought the brooms.” The teams, after displaying one-of-a-kind performances, took the win in all three sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-16) against the Michigan State Spartans. Badgers who struggled with the offense in the first set bounced back with an over .500 hitting percentage in the second and third sets, respectively.

In the second frame, Aliyah Moore and Evie Doezema helped the Spartans give tough competition to the former No. 1 team. The players showcasing their offensive skills upped the 15-9 score to 18-15. However, the athlete’s efforts were crushed as two kills from Carter Booth and an ace from Orzol paved the Badgers’ victory in the second set.

Following this, in the third set, Carter Booth and Anna Smerk continued to showcase their skills and lead the team toward victory. Amid the performance, the two athletes who had an above .500 hitting percentage maintained their first and second spots in the conference in hitting percentage. This win comes for the Badgers after the loss against the Nebraska Huskers. The team faced a defeat against the Huskers for the first time since 2017.

Badgers loss against Nebraska Huskers

In the highly anticipated five-set game, the Badgers lost their first spot. At the Bob Devaney Sports Center, the Badgers could only secure two wins in the five sets (22-25, 25-17, 25-20, 24-26-13-15). Merrit Beason, representing the Huskers, secured the most kills (21), while at the same time, Harper Murray and Ally Batenhorst secured 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Overall, Nebraska, with a hitting percentage of.130, was able to secure the first spot against the Badgers (.223), with a 16-kill difference of 69-53.

However, despite the dismay faced by the Badgers, the team was able to bounce back against the Spartans. Now, the volleyball enthusiasts are geared up for the team to maintain its form and pave their way toward the pinnacle.
