Lexi Rodriguez’s led Nebraska Volleyball just keeps on showing the world why they’re at the top of the fan-favorite list! Not too long ago, the Huskers cruised to their 24th straight victory in an electrifying showdown against Iowa (10-19, 4-13 B1G). The Huskers came firing on all cylinders, sweeping the Hawkeyes 25-9, 25-16, 25-17. That win pushed No. 2 Nebraska (27-1, 17-0 B1G) to a perfect Big Ten record, extending their unbeaten streak against Iowa to an impressive 40-0. Lexi, like a true captain, led all players with 11 digs.
But the action didn’t stop there—after a quick road win, Nebraska was back at home, gearing up for a highly anticipated rematch with Wisconsin on November 23, sparking even more excitement for this season-defining clash.
And once again, the Huskers swept the Badgers 25-21, 25-22, 25-17, continuing their flawless run in front of 9,000 fans at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The senior captain and libero, Lexi Rodriguez, was everywhere on the court, racking up a match-high 16 digs, including a jaw-dropping line dig of a Devyn Robinson bomb that sparked a Husker point in the final stretch of the match. But before Lexi took the court for her final home game, she left everyone a heartfelt note that made Senior Night even more emotional.

On November 23, Nebraska Volleyball shared an emotional tribute on X, honoring their senior captain, Lexi Rodriguez. The post read, “An elite presence within a longtime leader; what a legacy to leave from one of the best. A senior captain from Sterling, Illinois — Lexi Rodriguez!” The post showcased a heartfelt note by Lexi, reflecting on how the past four years with the Huskers have shaped her in ways beyond what she could have imagined.
In her own words, Lexi poured her soul into the message: “Dear Nebraska, I can’t even begin to put into words what being a part of this program and representing this state has meant to me these past 4 years. When I decided to become a husker I never imagined my journey would have turned out the way it did!” She explained further how her time with the team has been nothing short of a dream, transforming her life in ways she never anticipated.
Lexi acknowledged the incredible support from everyone involved in her journey: “To all my teammates, coaches, staff, and all of husker nation, thank you for giving me so much love & support, you guys truly made this place feel like home!”

Lexi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent a historic program as she prepares to leave: “It has been a privilege to put on the Nebraska jersey these past 4 years and represent such a historical program.” She closed with a poignant message of growth and appreciation: “I am leaving this program a more confident & joyful Lexi Rodriguez, and I hope I was able to impact this place as much as it impacted me! There truly is no place like Nebraska, GBR.” Emotions were also high in the match against the Badgers.
Five seniors, Lexi, Merritt Beason, outside hitter Lindsay Krause, serving specialist Kennedi Orr and transfer middle blocker Leyla Blackwell received their flowers from the team. Head coach John Cook, who, ahead of the Badgers match up had concealed his emotions by saying he was not thinking too much about the senior night, came out of his shell somewhat.
“It’s hard to put into words what this senior group means and what they’ve done. Two of them are transfers but they feel like they’ve been here forever. If you look at their legacy, what they’ve done, they’ve literally done everything but win a national championship. And we’ve still got an opportunity to do that,” Cook said after the match.
Nearly every underclassman on Nebraska’s bench wiped tears away. Taylor Landfair wiped her tears with her jersey. Bergen Reilly, Harper Murray, and Skyler Pierce used their hand to dry their face. Maisie Boesiger borrowed Laney Choboy’s towel. And as for the fans? Well, they were undoubtedly not prepared to let go of Lexi Rodriguez.
