Allie Sczech, once a proud Baylor Bear, is now turning heads with some exciting news! On January 26, she took to Instagram to share a big life update, posting a picture rocking Nebraska’s iconic jersey. Her caption was brimming with gratitude and faith: “I’m so blessed to announce I will be pursuing a masters degree in Professional Journalism and continuing my athletic career at the University of Nebraska! All glory to God and hope to be a light in Lincoln this fall! GBR! ❤️Matthew 5:14-16” Talk about making moves!

Sczech, a former Baylor bear with one season remaining, is officially taking center stage in the Husker spotlight. With the completion of her Baylor chapter in May 2025 in corporate communication and journalism, this towering powerhouse has already made a name for herself during her three seasons at Baylor. Sczech has participated in 92 matches and 333 sets, and she is going to bring a wealth of experience and a fiery spirit to Nebraska volleyball.

Sczech was electric during her junior year! She achieved 2.44 kills per set and had a kill percentage of. 273. In the year 2022, when she was a freshman, Sczech was already making a platform with a career-high 105 blocks. So naturally, she was recognized as a member of the All-Big 12 second team in both 2022 and 2024. And wait. Her accolades don’t stop there.

Sczech was selected for the 2022 All-Big 12 rookie team, and she was also named to the 2023 preseason All-Big 12 list. However, she also emerged victorious in the 2021 AVCA First Team High School All-American competition and was recognized as the District 20-6A 2020 Offensive Player of the year. Given that the team has such a rich history, it is no surprise that Nebraska volleyball is thrilled to welcome the new member. And guess what? There are even more players that are joining the roster.

Nebraska Volleyball lands new recruits!

Back in November 2024, the No. 2 Nebraska volleyball program turned heads yet again, unveiling a star-studded recruiting class to replace five departing seniors. New to the team is 6-foot-2 opposite hitter Ryan Hunter, who is a student at Cox Mills High School in Concord, North Carolina. Hunter was able to play through a torn ACL that caused her to miss her entire senior season, but even with that, her junior year numbers are astounding: 4.3 kills per set hitting .317. Now she is almost fully recovered and is actively participating in Nebraska Volleyball’s spring program preparing for her official debut.

Then there is Teraya Sigler, an outside hitter from Horizon High School in Scottsdale who stands 6-foot-3 and will be a force to reckon with on the court. A U19 World Championship winner with the American Volleyball team, Sigler was also announced as the 2023 Gatorade Arizona Volleyball Player of the Year. Sigler boasted 5.7 kills per set on .371 hitting efficiency while having a near-perfect reception at 97%, and 3.0 digs per set. Additionally, the Huskers have added Campbell Flynn, a 6-foot-3 setter from Mercy High School in Michigan, who will come with an attacking mentality that she has been trained in as an opposite hitter. Flynn is a Gatorade Michigan Volleyball Player of the Year honoree who will add her unique brand of playmaking to the Huskers.

There is even more Nebraska pride in the mix with Keri Leimbach, a 5-foot-4 libero from Lincoln Lutheran who also decided to stay home. Leimbach has a total of 2063 digs, 244 aces and, according to the stats, has 96.3% of receiving efficiency. And let’s not forget Manaia Ogbechie, a late but great addition from Oaks Christian in California who has career totals of over 400 blocks and 900 kills. Moreover, she had 3.3 kills per set and hit .307 in her senior season. Altogether, this squad is ready to take the Nebraska Huskers to an even higher level.
