This Saturday, NCAA volleyball fans are set to be treated to a blockbuster battle between two top teams who are both in top form. The clash is between the Nebraska Huskers and the Wisconsin Badgers. This same fixture took place earlier this month on November 1, which promised to be quite a close outing, but it didn’t end up being one, much to the sadness of the Badgers fans.
The second-ranked Huskers team completely dominated the home side from the onset, winning with a scoreline of 25-21, 25-22, 25-19. It was definitely not the Badgers’ best outing, as they could only manage a hitting percentage of .094 while Nebraska outplayed them with a .202. Thus, the Wisconsin Badgers will be looking for revenge when they reach Madison on November 23. They will also look to exact revenge from the Huskers for last season when they broke a very valuable record of theirs. In fact, many records could be broken on Saturday. Here are all of them.

The Huskers are currently on an amazing winning spree of 24 games as they look forward to thrashing each and every opponent of theirs. But they’ll definitely be frightened of losing the streak when they encounter the Badgers. This is because, in the previous season, when the Nebraska Huskers faced them, they won, hence shattering their 10-game losing streak to Wisconsin. The Badgers must not have forgotten that and will look to return the same favor on Saturday by breaking Nebraska’s record.
The Huskers are aware of this and thus know that this will be a challenging outing. Libero Lexi Rodriguez talked about the game to the press, saying, “We’re really preparing for another hard matchup. Just because we beat them the first time doesn’t mean that it’s like we’re going to do it again.” Thus, both teams know what’s at stake and are preparing for the same. This has gotten fans excited, which could lead to the breaking of another record.

The Nebraska Huskers and the Wisconsin Badgers’ viewership record

Last year, Nebraska Huskers and Wisconsin Volleyball had together created history in their match. It drew a total average viewership of 612,000 on Big TV becoming the highest-watched NCAA volleyball game in the regular season. This was a huge feat which was a big step in the right direction for the sport. What’s more shocking is that the Huskers football team played the same day against the Northwestern Wildcats.
The football game couldn’t manage to produce the same numbers as their figure was more than 100,000 less than the volleyball game. Now, as we are on the precipice of a huge game between the same sides that created history last year, the question of whether they could do it again definitely arises in a viewer’s mind. The game is certainly a grudge matchup, with both teams looking desperately to win. This could very well get another record number of fans to tune in for the match and break this unprecedented record once again.

After defeating Iowa State with ease, the Nebraska Huskers extended their home winning streak to 40 games. This run started way back on December 1, 2022, and has almost gone on for two years. It is their longest since they moved to their new stadium Devaney Center in 2013. As of now, they look quite on track to equal their highest-ever record of 88 wins which was set between 2004-2009.
However, the Badgers game really makes these proceedings interesting. The team now has the chance to not only break their 24-game winning streak but also their incredible home record which is currently the highest ongoing in the country. Thus, this record being at stake makes the matchup even more interesting and promises to be a top billing that fans can’t miss. Hopefully, the game lives up to the hype and gives fans a brilliant exhibition of performances.
