The Nebraska volleyball squad, riding high at the number two spot in the nation. They had an absolute blast of a week with a couple of thrilling victories. And if that wasn’t delightful enough, not one, not two, but three Huskers snagged the Big Ten Weekly Awards. What’s more? These star players have been no strangers to the awards they’ve been on a winning streak before.
As the Nebraska Huskers maintain their impressive unbeaten streak, their presence in the world of collegiate volleyball shines brighter than ever. With each victorious match, they solidify their status as a force to be reckoned with in the Big Ten conference, consistently outperforming their competitors. Their latest achievement, a commanding display that earned them a multitude of accolades in the Big Ten Volleyball Weekly Awards, underscores their unwavering commitment to excellence on the volleyball court.
Huskers’ pride run unbeaten in volleyball

Merritt Beason, the junior opposite hitter, had a week that dreams are made of. She clinched her second Big Ten Player of the Week title, and she earned it. She was on fire with a jaw-dropping 4.56 following a .384 hitting percentage in the last two matches. Her stat sheet included 19 hits among which nine digs, and five blocks. And hold onto your hats, because against Indiana, she unleashed a career-high 22 kills. With that, she maintained an awe-inspiring 400-hitting percentage. Merritt’s the one leading the pack this season with 4.36 and 3.67 points per set, and her overall hitting of .281.

Harper Murray, the freshman sensation is no stranger to smashing it on the court, averaging 4.22 kills per set and 1.67 digs per set. Her overall hitting percentage is a respectable .278. Against Purdue, she turned on a career-high 21 kills, adding 10 digs and two blocks to her highlight reel. And against Indiana, she sprinkled in 17 kills and five digs for good measure. She’s already pocketed three out of six Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards.
Last but not least, the quarterback of the squad, Bergen Reilly. This freshman setter is writing her own legend, earning her second consecutive Big Ten Setter of the Week award. She shared it with Penn State’s Mac Podraza. Bergen was the linchpin in Nebraska’s victories, averaging 11.89 assists per set and chipping in with 1.89 digs per set. In the Purdue showdown, she dished out a career-high 54 assists while adding 12 digs and five kills to her impressive tally. Against Indiana, she notched up 53 assists, falling just one short of her performance in the epic five-set battle against Purdue.

And the icing on the cake? Despite Purdue’s solid defense, Nebraska showcased its hitting prowess with a scorching .338 against Indiana and a slick .311 hitting percentage. In the Big Ten arena, Carter Booth from Wisconsin deserves a round of applause as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. The player had 13 blocks against no. 22 Ohio State and Michigan.

Nebraska is facing off against the formidable No. 17 Purdue and Indiana teams. It was a nail-biter, but the Huskers came out winning in both encounters. Looking ahead, the Huskers are set to keep the party going with more away games. Mark your calendars for October 6 at 6:00 p.m. when they take on Michigan State, and October 7 at 7:30 p.m. when they face Michigan. The road to victory has never looked so colorful, and the Nebraska volleyball team is painting it with power.
