The countdown is real—38 days since Lexi Rodriguez wrapped up her Huskers gig and went pro with LOVB Omaha. Fans were buzzing with excitement, hoping to see the star libero finally hit the court for her pro debut on January 24th when Omaha faced off against Madison at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Omaha took the match 3-1, but Lexi’s much-anticipated debut? Well, it didn’t quite unfold the way everyone hoped.

Jump to January 25th and Omaha was at it again, this time up against Austin, with spirits soaring, waiting for Lexi to take center stage. Yet again, no sign of her in the starting lineup. And now, as the days for her first professional match add up, the Nebraska Huskers remain loyal to their star libero, supporting Lexi from bench, as she prepares for her first professional game.

The Nebraska Huskers’ official Instagram was all about love for Lexi Rodriguez as they posted a story showing some of the team cheering from the stands at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena. From Bergen Reilly to Olivia Mauch, Skyler Pierce, and even the new recruit Keri Leimbach—there was a solid squad in the stands, showing some major support for LOVB Omaha.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any sweeter, Harper Murray jumped on her Insta Stories to share a vid of Lexi practicing on the court (yep, still waiting for that debut). Harper was all in, cheering her on with the sweetest caption: “IM UR NUMBER 1 FAN!!! @lexi.rodriguez.” You love to see it!

In a stunning upset, LOVB Omaha was swept 3-0 by LOVB Austin, and, yes, the Huskers were there to witness it. The audience was full of familiar faces: Andi Jackson was clapping for the team together with Maisie Boseiger. However, now that excitement for Lexi Rodriguez’s pro debut builds, the fans are getting anxious, their temper getting ready to flare as they wait for the young lady to get on the volleyball court.

On January 24, Avid took to X to share the letdown from Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Omaha defeated LOVB Madison 3-1 to make the series continue their winning ways, but the highlight of the match was the non-appearance of Lexi Rodriguez on the court again. Her fans were disappointed to see her sitting down during the match while Justin Wong-Orantes, the Olympic gold medalist and former Nebraska player, was picked as libero for the match.

The post didn’t spare any effort and used a meme to express the suffering that Lexi endures while waiting. It was very evident that Omaha wanted to get that first LOVB trophy by choosing JWO as their libero. As the 2024 collegiate season wrapped up, former NCAA volleyball stars like Ally Batenhorst, Merritt Beason, Jess Mruzik, Madisen Skinner, and Jordan Thompson have all already made their pro debuts.

Several of them are already setting it on fire with breathtaking performances, making a significant difference on the points table. But Lexi? Still waiting for her to get her big break. And yeah, fans aren’t exactly thrilled. “Not liking this at all. Almost every ex NCAA player has made their debut so far except Lexi,” one fan posted, making it clear they’re getting pretty tired of the waiting game. When do you think Lexi will make her debut? Let us know in the comments.
