Besides being an exceptionally talented outside hitter for Nebraska who has only gotten better in her two years with the team, Harper Murray is turning out to be a specialist in a very specific task. And that’s getting Nebraska Athletics coaches to make their TikTok debuts. No, we are not just talking about the Husker volleyball coaches, we’re talking about anyone and everyone.

When the world was busy cracking April Fool’s jokes, Murray did what the entire Husker football roster couldn’t. The 20-year-old helped coach Matt Rhule make his TikTok debut on her page. “Me and bro,” she wrote in the closed caption. Yet, Murray didn’t stop at that. “LMK if u want more TikToks,” she teased the fans, giving the Husker Instagram handle the perfect idea.

The official Huskers athletics page posted some so-called “BREAKING” news. “Following @mattrhule1’s TikTok debut with @harpermurrayy, the duo has accepted an invitation to headline Dancing with the Stars premiering later this summer,” they wrote on Instagram. Fans who had just seen Harper Murray and Matt Rhule on social media for the first time got hyped before the realization hit.

“I hate y’all,” commented one fan. “I just told everyone I know [laughing emoji],” commented one fan, who forgot to check the date before getting pumped and forwarding the post to her contacts. The official Huskers page had set up the perfect April Fool’s Day trap, thanks to the volleyball athlete and football coach duo choosing April 1st, of all days, to collaborate.

Then again, helping a Huskers coach make their TikTok debut is nothing new to Harper Murray. The volleyball icon introduced former Huskers’ volleyball coach John Cook to TikTok, and today, Cook’s account has 110,000 followers. Maybe this is why most fans expressed disappointment that the Dancing With the Stars post was just a joke.

The Harper Murray and Coach Rhule’s collab no one knew they needed

April Fool’s Day jokes come in many flavors, but very rarely do they make fans feel they would be real. The Murray-Rhule fake DWTS announcement was one of those rare ones. “I was actually so excited for a second,” commented one fan after seeing the post. After all, the post was far from a half-baked announcement, as one fan pointed out.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Harper Murray just outsmart the entire Husker football team with her TikTok prank?

Have an interesting take?

“They put so much dedication into this,” commented the fan. While the Huskers couldn’t copy the official DWTS logo, their imitation came close to matching the font style. The design fits the whole DWTS aesthetic too. In fact, they even went so far as to include every streaming and broadcast partner of the show correctly. They put Disney+, ABC, Hulu, and BBC Studio logos.

Some found it so convincing they completely fell for it, and only realized it when they returned to the post. “LMAO. I fell for this and sent it to two friends, telling them to watch it with me. Then I realized what was going on. Good one!!” the netizen wrote. What’s more? The TikTok isn’t the first time Harper Murray and Coach Rhule have interacted.

Matt Rhule is the 20-year-old’s boyfriend, Heinrich Haarberg’s football coach. In February, the football coach and the outside hitter crossed paths during an Omaha Supernova vs. Columbus Fury game. Despite their short meeting, Murray remembered to wish Coach Rhule a happy birthday. So, the duo doing something like participating in Dancing With the Stars didn’t seem so unlikely to the fans.

The final reason that may have convinced fans was that Matt Rhule is the third Nebraska coach Murray has introduced to TikTok trends. While turning the legendary Johan Cook TikTok famous is Harper Murray’s biggest success launching the social media careers of Huskers coaches, the 20-year-old recently tried the same with their new head coach Dani Busboom Kelly.

No wonder one fan wrote: “9/10 April Fool’s joke,” in the comments. But what about you? Did the post make you think twice too? Or do you think it would be a 10/10 post had the Huskers created a similar post with John Cook? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
