The Nebraska Huskers are having the time of their lives right now. After winning this year’s Big Ten conference, the Huskers are eyeing the top spot in the NCAA Championship. While the Huskers are making waves on the court, their performance in the classroom hasn’t been too shabby either!

One of the Huskers’ key players has bagged yet another major academic honor while propelling her team to the NCAA semis. Lexi Rodriguez, the Huskers junior playing as a libero boasts a 3.647 GPA, making her one of the best students in the district. As Nebraska looks to head on to the NCAA finals, Huskers captain Rodriguez’s latest off-court achievement will surely boost their confidence even further.

For most people, being good in sports automatically entails the thought of being lackluster in the classroom. However, the Nebraska junior libero proves everyone wrong with her stellar academic records. In a recent social media post, the Huskers’ official account shared their unbridled joy over Rodriguez’s honor. Rodriguez has been bestowed with the College Sports Communicators All-District honors on Tuesday.

The Huskers junior is currently majoring in advertising and public relations while also pursuing a minor in business studies. With her latest feat, Rodriguez is now a two-time recipient of the award. Academic All-District is an honor recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their overall performances in their respective sports as well as in their academic duties. As the Huskers junior moves forward to the national ballot for the All-America honors, her performance in the Big Ten conference this season has been equally commendable.

Lexi Rodriguez has been voted the best defensive player of the year for her performance in the Big Ten this season. Moreover, her contributions to the Huskers’ achievements also secured her a spot in the All-Big Ten First Team and AVCA All-Region Team.

Huskers eye another NCAA title

Nebraska’s women’s volleyball team has blitzed into the tournament with one clean sweep after another and will face the No. 1-seed and the 2023 ACC winners Pittsburg Panthers in the national semifinal tomorrow. On their way to the semis, Rodriguez has been a pillar for the Huskers’ defense.

While she started the tournament a little shaky, Lexi quickly found her feet and helped the Huskers breeze through their second, third, and fourth matches. Now, the Huskers captain looks forward to a spot at the NCAA finals while also waiting for the result of the Academic All-America honors, scheduled to be announced in January 2024
