It can’t get better than this for the Nebraska Volleyball community. The Husker Nation is known to produce stars like Lexi Rodriguez and Merritt Beason, who have moved on to their professional careers after their successful stints as Huskers. However, with the legendary John Cook also retired now, there will be many new faces in the team next season. But this hasn’t deterred the Nebraska faithful from committing their presence for the next season.

The Husker Nation is known to have sell-out crowds for the team’s matches. However, they reached a new high when the tickets for the 2025-26 season, which is set to begin in August, already sold out in less than 24 hours. This shows that even with Cook gone, the popularity of the program is soaring. It’s not just about the players or the coaches, it’s about their unending loyalty to the team.

Hours ago, the official Instagram handle of Nebraska Volleyball shared the exciting update on the tickets getting sold out in record time. “2025 Student Tickets officially sold out in less than 24 hours! Husker Nation is built different… see y’all in the fall,” read the caption of the post.

John Cook, the ex-coach of Nebraska, joined the Big Ten Network to serve as an analyst for volleyball coverage, though it’s likely that he’ll still be involved with the Huskers in some capacity. He was replaced by Dani Busboom Kelly, who will take charge of the new era of Nebraska Volleyball, with some big boots to fill.

Nonetheless, Cook jokingly admitted, “No no, I don’t feel like I’ve walked away yet. They keep pulling you back. Yeah, you wouldn’t believe the amount of requests and things I’ve been asked to do. I’ve turned down probably 80% of it just because it would mean I wouldn’t be able to do what I want to do, which is be with the Cowboys in Arizona and then be in Wyoming with my family.” Although many star names have left the team, Dani Busboom Kelly has been boosted by the commitment of a 6-foot-4 middle blocker.

Kenna Cogill set to join Nebraska Volleyball

Kenna Cogill has made a U-turn ahead of the 2025-26 season. A top-30 recruit in the 2025 class, she originally signed with Oregon as Matt Ulmer was serving as a head coach there. However, the latter left Eugene to take the job at Kansas, resulting in Cogill changing her mind and joining Nebraska.

What’s your perspective on:

With John Cook gone, can Dani Busboom Kelly lead Nebraska Volleyball to even greater heights?

Have an interesting take?

Announcing this decision on her Instagram handle, Cogill revealed, “Due to recent changes, I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my education and play volleyball at the University of Nebraska! This has been a dream of mine since I started playing volleyball. Special thanks to Coach Dani, Coach Jaylen, and Coach Kelly for giving me this amazing opportunity and making this dream come true.”

Cogill would be one of the new stars in Nebraska’s lineup to look forward to as they begin their season in a few months. She will be joined by the likes of Manaia Ogbechie and former Baylor opposite hitter Allie Sczech as summer enrollees. With massive firepower in their ranks, there is no question as to why the tickets were sold out in record time for the next season.
