The defending champs are here to retain their throne. The Omaha Supernovas kickstarted its Real Pro Volleyball season on a high, and it looks like it’s already tapping into the Nebraska Huskers fanbase. Considering how fans in the state never fail to rally behind the athletes, it also isn’t surprising to know that the Omaha Supernovas continue to see similar enthusiasm from their followers.

As Supernovas begin their second PVF season by taking on Atlanta Vibe, it looks like fans are gearing up for an exciting professional season ahead. According to an X post by Lincoln Arneal from January 10, 13,486 fans flocked to the CHI Health Center in Omaha to watch the defending Pro Volleyball Federation champs in action.

With that, the Omaha Supernovas broke the past attendance record of 12,090 that was set in March last year. The large crowd gathered at the venue didn’t fail to cheer loudly, and the team beat the visitors 3-2 in their opening match of the year. The hosts dropped the first (22-25)set but quickly bounced back in the second (25-19) before losing the third set (22-25) again. However, the Supernovas were able to showcase their dominance winning the next two sets back-to-back (225-22 15-13).

And with that, Laura Kuhn’s girls proved that they aren’t up for relinquishing their top throne just yet and are determined to retain the momentum that was gathered by last year’s squad. With the fans standing firm in their corner, it shouldn’t be much of a problem either. Over the years, Nebraska’s volleyball community has made it evident that they love the sport to the bones and the Huskers have often found themselves relying on the fans’ cheers in difficult times, and the Omaha Supernovas could do the same.

The Supernovas’ roster is staked to the brim with talent. From Kaitlyn Hord to the returning star Natalia Valentin-Anderson, there’s no dearth of athletes who know what it takes to win under pressure. And yet, there was one thing that would make Nebraska’s volleyball fans feel the blues after Omaha’s emphatic win tonight.

Huskers head coach John Cook had previously said that he wanted to win the NCAA title as the last gift to the exiting Nebraska seniors. That ultimately didn’t happen, and we can speculate that the latest loss only added to Beason’s woes. However, irrespective of the ex-Nebraska star leaving the CHI Health Center with empty hands, the match once again proved that volleyball will always be celebrated in the state no matter which level it’s being played in.
