Lexi Rodriguez in a Huskers jersey? Yeah, that’s a sight Nebraska fans are definitely still missing. Back in November 2024, she and her squad provided Husker Nation with quite a performance, dominating Wisconsin 25-21, 25-22, 25-17 before 9,009 fans at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. But even with that electric victory, there was a different kind of energy in the air. It was Senior Night, a moment that hit differently. Five incredible seniors—Lexi Rodriguez, Kennedi Orr, Leyla Blackwell, Merritt Beason, and Lindsay Krause—took their final regular-season bow at home, and emotions ran high.

Before the game, John Cook made sure they felt the love, presenting each senior with a rose, a simple yet powerful gesture of gratitude and after the game, the seniors were given framed jerseys. Looking back at it, those goodbyes still pull at the heartstrings even a few months down the line. Lexi Rodriguez, who knows all too well what it’s like to step off that court for the last time, is now the one sending off another Husker star. When Nebraska Women’s Basketball decided to celebrate Senior Day, she could not contain herself and made an emotional tribute to the seniors.

Lexi Rodriguez had all the feels this weekend and wasn’t about to hide it. Taking to her Instagram stories, she shared a reel from Nebraska Women’s Basketball, capturing the emotional moment when seniors Alberte Rimdal, Kendall Moriarty, Kendall Coley, and Alexis Markowski were honored post game. With flowers in hand and framed jerseys as keepsakes, the Huskers stars had their well-deserved spotlight—cue the waterworks!

Nebraska Women’s Basketball summed it up perfectly, captioning the reel, “It’s Senior Day in Lincoln for @huskerwbb 🫶”—and Lexi? She wasn’t holding back her emotions either. “my heart’s breaking.” She wrote, feeling all kinds of bittersweet about it. But heartbreak aside, she made sure to shower her friends with love, adding, “so incredibly proud of you all and everything you guys have accomplished,” while tagging Kendall Moriarty, Kendall Coley, and Alexis Markowski. Nothing but love from Lexi to her fellow Huskers! ❤️

And the basketball seniors? Well, their final home game didn’t exactly have a fairytale ending as they were defeated. In a match played at the Pinnacle Bank Arena, the Nebraska women’s basketball team suffered a loss at the hand of Washington with a score of 83-62. In the third quarter, the Huskies managed to score as many points as the Huskers scored in the first half and beat them 21-5 to make it the Huskers’ tenth loss. Not the way anyone would like to finish their home court run, but but hey, the emotions run deeper than the scoreboard.

Speaking of emotions, Lexi Rodriguez knows a thing or two about how hard it is to say goodbye to the Huskers chapter. It took her a while to fully embrace life beyond those Nebraska colors, and let’s be honest, it might take the basketball seniors some time as well.

Lexi Rodriguez gives a life update!

Back in early January, Lexi Rodriguez wasn’t just facing any loss—it was the loss. Her final game as a Husker. The senior libero of the Nebraska team saw her last year in college volleyball come to a very disappointing end after being defeated by Penn State. And to twist the knife? That was the momentum the Nittany Lions took all the way to their eighth NCAA title. But Lexi? She’s not one to dwell. New year, new chapter, and big things ahead. Before diving in, she gave fans a little life update.

As for how she started her 2025, it was as typically Lexi: in her new apartment, with an iced coffee and talking to the audience on TikTok. “Hi guys, happy new year,” she greeted. “I’m gonna make a coffee and give you guys a life update.” She’s settled into her new space, had her first practice with LOVB Omaha, and even welcomed the New Year with her people from Nebraska. “I got to see all my old friends from Nebraska yesterday for New Year’s,” she said, clearly relishing the moment.

Of course, post-college life is an adjustment. “After doing something for four years and having that be my routine, it’s just a little difficult to figure out,” she admitted. While her resolutions weren’t set in stone, she’s focused on the essentials—“Eat healthy, drink a lot of water, take care of mental health.” But her biggest goal? “Live in the moment, stay in the present.” So, if anyone gets it, it’s Lexi. She knows exactly how it feels to wrap up a college career with a tough loss. That heartbreak? That adjustment? She’s been there. So, no doubt, she’s feeling for the basketball team too.
