LIU Touch Bases in Lincoln as They Prepare for a David vs. Goliath Battle Against no.1 Nebraska Huskers

The regular season of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship has come to an end. All the volleyball teams and the spectators are eyeing the playoffs now. The upcoming match between the LIU Sharks and the Nebraska Huskers is one of the most anticipated by the audience.

Nebraska has secured the number one seed in the NCAA and has set high expectations for the spectators. The sharks, on the other hand, being an underdog, have their own extraordinary skills. In a recent social media post, the sharks have posted a glimpse of their fun session that has spread excitement among the enthusiasts for this David vs. Goliath Battle.

The First Match of LIU Sharks and the Nebraska Huskers

The opening round of the NCAA tournament is all ready to start and so are the players. This match between LIU and Nebraska will mark the first-ever match between the two teams. In a recent post on their X account, the Sharks confirmed their touchdown in Nebraska. They shared a series of pictures of the entire team practicing, and the caption carried, “Lincoln, Nebraska”.

The Huskers have proved their place by being the number one seed. However, the LIU Sharks have been successful in clinching the title of the Northeast Conference Women’s Volleyball with their sharp teeth. Both these teams have another level of dominance, which has created an air of excitement among the spectators. This game will be held on the 1st of December 2023, at 8 p.m. EST.

The top-notch players of the LIU will be performing in this game with their NEC Championship game mode on. The enthusiasts are expecting this game to be as exciting as the NEC games between LIU and Sacred Heart and the other one with FDU.

The ultimate performance by LIU Sharks in the NEC Championship

The fourth-seeded LIU nabbed the 13th NEC Championship title by defeating the number two seed FDU on the 18th of November 2023. By gaining victory over the FDU, the team went from underdog fourth-seeded to NEC champions. They gracefully knocked off the top-seeded Sacred Heart as well with their commendable skills.

This is the first time the Sharks swam their way to the top since 2017 in this event. With the Sacred Hearts, the scoreboard looked like 25-22, 31-29,14-25. and 25-22, and with FDU, it looked like 25-20, 21-25, 25-14, and 25-13 in four sets. The MVP for this event was Camelia Melendez from LIU. She was an NEC First Team pick. The enthusiasts are waiting to witness the same energy from the Sharks in the upcoming playoffs with the Nebraska Huskers.
