And that’s the end of one more chapter. Lexi Rodriguez is officially leaving her Nebraska Huskers behind, giving up her college reds for a professional uniform. The senior libero who defined Husker history is set to bring the fire to the pro level. In December, League One Volleyball (LOVB) revealed that Lexi had signed a contract to play for their Omaha-based team, a new journey for the four-time All-American. “Your queen isn’t going anywhere. Please join us in welcoming @Alexis14Rod to the LOVB Omaha roster Lexi is the all-time digs leader for @HuskerVB, 4x All-American, 2x Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and 2024 Big Ten Libero of the Year. We’re SO excited, Lexi!”
Lexi Rodriguez’s last collegiate match was a hard-fought five-set to the Nittany Lions in the NCAA Volleyball Tournament semifinal. However, Lexi went out with a bang to become Nebraska’s all-time digs leader, surpassing Justine Wong-Orantes’s record. The pro season starts on January 10th at Houston and the first home match in Omaha will be on January 24th. But it’s not only the audience that is getting all emotional about it. Lexi’s Nebraska bestie has recently uploaded an emotional video showing the mixed feelings one has when their best friend is leaving college for professional life.
Maisie Boesiger, the junior libero from Nebraska, took to TikTok on December 5 to share a heartfelt moment with Lexi and Maggie Mendelson. In the video, the trio casually hangs out in a parking lot, grooving and swaying to the music as only best friends can. The caption, “Oh what I would give to play with these 2 again…”

It really hits the feels, it’s so nostalgic and captures all the bitter-sweet feelings. But Maisie gave her own twist, saying, “Getting sad going through drafts,” as she tagged Lexi and Maggie. Saying goodbye to the team is never easy, and these brief moments are a reminder of the great memories they will have together.

While Lexi Rodriguez stayed in Nebraska all the way through her senior year, Maggie Mendelson had a different path. Despite two seasons playing for the Huskers, Maggie declared in January 2024 her decision to transfer to Penn State women’s volleyball. On her Instagram, she shared her thoughts:
“I am so grateful for my experience at my previous school. All the people I have met will be a huge part of my life forever. With that being said, I am so excited for the opportunity to continue my journey at Penn State. I can’t wait to be in Happy Valley.” However, for Maisie and Lexi, their friendship is one for the ages and it is a different story altogether!
Lexi Rodriguez and Maisie Boesiger’s unbreakable bond!
While Maisie Boesiger and Lexi Rodriguez share a strong bond with all their teammates, there’s something special about their friendship. Despite Lexi being a senior and Maisie still amid her journey, their connection continues to grow effortlessly. The two have shared countless moments on social media—videos, photos, and memories that showcase their close friendship.
Lexi posted a carousel with both for Halloween, captioning it, “Happy Halloween from your favorite duo.”
Maisie then posted another TikTok in which she pretends to run up to Lexi and then jumps into her arms hugging her, which was such a beautiful representation of their friendship. But that’s not all!
Maisie wouldn’t let the senior night pass without posting about Lexi and the seniors of their team on Instagram and TikTok. On Instagram, she posted a lovely picture with Lexi and Kennedi Orr captioning it, “We 🤍 celebrating our besties!!” Over on TikTok, Maisie teamed up with freshman outside hitter Skyler Pierce for an incredibly adorable clip.
Together, they created the most wonderful goodie bag for Lexi, which included comfy slippers, a matching Stanley, a curler (as Lexi had recently learned how to curl), heat protectant spray, lip balms, vanilla lotion, body scrub, mocktails, a bottle of lavender shortbread syrup, and even an espresso martini kit.
What’s more, is how they ensure they gave it a befitting touch by decorating the bag. Of course, it can be seen her team will sorely miss Lexi as she transitions to the next stage in her career!
