Lexi Rodriguez is looking to start 2025 with a clean slate. Well, after the Nebraska Huskers suffered a crushing defeat at the NCAA women’s volleyball championships last year, she certainly needs this. Thus, with a new team, a new house, and a whole lot of determination, Lexi is embracing change like a pro. But well, she’s also reuniting with her old folks for a much-needed dose of positivity!
In a TikTok that she uploaded a day ago, Lexi Rodriguez showed off her new kitchen and her freshly brewed coffee in her hand. She also provided an important life update that she’s moved into a new apartment and has had her first pre-season practice with LOVB Omaha. But the biggest highlight was the New Year celebration she had, surrounded by familiar faces.
We now have the insider snippets that one of the attendees was an ex-Nebraska Husker from 2023! As seen in an Instagram post uploaded by Lexi Rodriguez on January 2, she celebrated her New Year’s night in Omaha with her Nebraska friends. Among Kennedi Orr, Rylee Gray, and others, a former Husker, Ally Batenhorst, was also present for the celebration. As Rodriguez posed and flexed her friendship with USC alumni Ally Batenhorst, she captioned it, “Entering a new era #2025″

While Batenhorst chimed in on her own post with “Same besties every year.” In fact, Ally even gave fans a heartwarming behind-the-scenes moment in a fun “GRWM for New Year’s with my best friend” TikTok video uploaded after the new year. As the two glammed up for the night together, they were radiating with happiness. From the social media posts, it’s clear that they share an unbreakable bond that has stood the test of time!

Batenhorst and Lexi Rodriguez were Huskers pals until the former transferred to USC from Nebraska in January 2024. After three seasons with the Huskers, this was seen as a massive step, but it hardly changed the team’s emotional connection with her. No wonder Batenhorst calls Nebraska her home, which is exactly why a welcome message flashed on the Lincoln Arena’s screen when she returned for a match against GBR this Big Ten season.
Of all people, Lexi Rodiguez was one of those who gave Batenhorst a welcome hug and a mini volleyball with handwritten messages from the Huskers in the September 29 match between USC and GBR. And no matter how deeply she missed her best friend after moving to the Trojans tent, Rodriguez had only good things to say about Batenhorst. “I love playing with her. I want to see her succeed,” were words from September 2024 that echoed her love for the former USC player.
Around the same time, Lexi Rodriguez also mentioned, “She’s [Ally Batenhorst] just a lot happier in her role. She’s playing six rotations. She’s probably going to be their priority hitter. I just think she looks like she’s having a lot of fun.” Her excitement for her best friend’s growth was palpable. And now, make those two! It’s not just Batenhorst but also Rodriguez who now enters a new phase in her career. Both the seniors have ended their NCAA rides and are off to the pro grounds!

What’s next for Lexi Rodriguez and Ally Batenhorst?
Big things, big things, big things. That’s the only agenda the two former Huskers seem to have for 2025. On one hand, the USC alumni is all set for her Pro Volleyball Federation debut, having signed her first professional contract with the Omaha Supernovas on December 11, 2024. She was drafted No. 15 overall in the second round of the 2024 PVF draft and, thus, is raring to begin a whole new season soon.
Turns out, Lexi Rodriguez is turning things up too. She surprised her fans by going pro. She was named the fifth member of LOVB 6 and has kicked off her professional career with LOVB Omaha. As she gears up to join Justine Wong-Orantes and Co., she will be making her season debut on January 10 as they face LOVB Houston at the Fort Bend County Epicenter.

And Lexi Rodriguez’s resolution for the big pro debut year? “I really need to think about what I want my New Year’s resolutions to be, but right now, I haven’t really thought about it.” She may not have narrowed down to a point, but she has a few specific on the list: “Eat healthy, drink a lot of water, take care of mental health.” The cherry on top? “Live in the moment, stay in the present, and not think too far ahead or get too caught up in the future,” she said in a TikTok right at the start of Januray.
