It was a roller coaster season for Nebraska Volleyball; From winning a share of the title to not making it to the NCAA finals. For the Husker seniors like Lexi Rodriguez, that bittersweet ending is painful. In her last year of college play, Lexi set records but never got her hands on the NCAA trophy. Following the semifinal defeat against Penn State, which saw NU suffer a straight-set defeat, the 22-year-old libero broke down into tears. That moment brought the curtain down on her Huskers journey, a feeling which the Illinois born lady still carries to this day.
The final chapter of the 2024 BIG10 Libero of the Year at Nebraska was to pack up and say goodbye to her locker, which was a memory lane of four years of hard work and cheers. But as Lexi utters her final goodbye to her fam, she’s given Nebraska volleyball fans something special to remember her by—a heartfelt gift that keeps the Husker spirit alive.
Lexi Rodriguez hit up Instagram stories on December 28 to give her followers a peek at something truly special—a trio of her signed jerseys from different games, all laid out neatly on her bed. Whether it was the fiery red, classic white, or sleek black, each jersey proudly bore her autograph, a token of her incredible journey as a Husker.

In her heartfelt caption, she wrote, “I want to give back to the Nebraska community that I was blessed to be a part of for 4 years.” And as if that wasn’t generous enough, Lexi revealed an even bigger surprise, adding, “I’m also going to be donating 10% of profits to a local nonprofit in Nebraska!!” Talk about spreading the love, right?
But she didn’t stop there! Lexi sent out a little shoutout to loyal Nebraskans, writing, “Looking in for NE for business, restaurants, loyal Husker fans, etc. that are interested in buying one of my signed jerseys!!” It’s safe to say Lexi’s giving spirit is as big as her game.
While gearing up for her highly anticipated LOVB debut, Lexi Rodriguez is still reeling from Nebraska’s tearful NCAA elimination. Only the day before, she loosened her armor on social media and said, “I would like to speak to whoever was out to get me these past few years.” This raw caption probably referred to those who recorded her crying on the field and in interviews. Even though the pain still continues, the volleyball star had a humorous message to her fans and took to TikTok to post, “Someone remind me to start holding the tears in.”
The emotional clips, mostly from NU’s most difficult defeats, depicted Lexi’s heartbreak during her team’s semifinals’ loss. As a senior cornerstone of the Huskers, she carried the weight of their two-set lead slipping away. Even not getting to the finals after the disappointment of the previous year’s NCAA for Lexi and her fellow seniors was a blow. But amid the sorrow of heartbreak sits the 22-year-old defensive specialist who is eager for a new start to embark for LOVB and to be a part of it’s team to get a taste for the professional volleyball.
Lexi Rodriguez set for her LOVB debut!
It has only been a few days since Lexi Rodriguez bid farewell to her college volleyball career, and she stunned her fans with some big news. The defensive superstar is extending the game in the most poetic manner, as LOVB Omaha officially revealed her next move in League One Volleyball. Lexi, who was happy to go further, wrote on her social networks, “On to the next chapter!! So excited for this opportunity to play in the States and no other place I would want to start than Nebraska.” And just like that, Nebraska’s favorite Libero isn’t leaving her loyal fanbase behind.

What makes this move so magical is that Rodriguez will stay right where her heart has always belonged—Nebraska. LOVB Omaha played up the sentiment, making sure Husker Nation felt the love in their announcement. “Your queen isn’t going anywhere. Please join us in welcoming @Alexis14Rod to the LOVB Omaha roster,” they wrote, celebrating the all-time digs leader in Husker history. So, it would be right to assume that the volleyball community of Nebraska is about to watch yet another chapter of Lexi’s legendary career.
To sweeten the deal, Lexi will have familiar faces by her side, as several legends of the Nebraska women’s volleyball team, including Justine Wong-Orantes, Madi Kubik, Lauren Stivrins, and Jordan Larson, will play for LOVB Omaha. Also, her former teammate Ally Batenhorst will also be in Omaha, playing for the Supernovas in the PVF league. While they will now be in different leagues, the city will still be filled with the Husker spirit.
