Lexi Rodriguez is back, y’all! And while she’s not rocking the Huskers’ jersey this time, she’s still serving up all the Nebraska vibes. Just a month—or like a year ago (it’s 2025 come on)—the Huskers were on the losing end in the NCAA semifinals against Penn State. It was a tough pill to swallow for Lexi, whose senior year wrapped up amidst the twinkling lights and festive cheer of the holiday season. But let’s be real, Lexi isn’t one to dwell on the past. Nope, she got right back up and started making moves, going straight to the professional team for League One Volleyball Omaha.

LOVB Omaha was thrilled about it and posted on X, “Your queen isn’t going anywhere. Please join us in welcoming @Alexis14Rod to the LOVB Omaha roster. Lexi is the all-time digs leader for @HuskerVB, 4x All-American, 2x Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and 2024 Big Ten Libero of the Year. We’re SO excited, Lexi!” It is safe to say that Rodriguez is ready to bring her A-game back to the court, this time in a whole new jersey.

But fear not, Nebraska fans—she’s still representing your state, it’s just in a professional volleyball way. But before all this, Rodriguez is embracing fresh starts after navigating the heartbreak of a tough NCAA season. Lexi Rodriguez hopped on Tiktok just a day ago to share a quick glimpse of her day—driving back home to Omaha to meet up with her family and her beloved dogs. She kicked it off saying, “Okay guys, today is the day. I drive to Omaha. It’s gonna be a fun day.” With her trusty iced latte in hand—oat milk and caramel drizzle—it was her go-to vibe.

After a heartfelt farewell to her family and furry friends, Rodriguez headed to her new apartment, grinning ear to ear. “Officially leaving my hometown heading to Omaha,” she shared, clearly soaking in every moment. By the end of the day, Lexi had unpacked nearly everything and was all settled into her cozy new space, thrilled for what’s ahead while still cherishing those homey feels. “Officially pretty much all moved in and unpacked pretty much everything. That was my first day.”

Even though Rodriguez will be beginning this new chapter here in Omaha, she will always have memories with her family and those cute furry friends she was with during Christmas. After a series of posts reflecting on her emotions, Lexi appeared to be in a much brighter place. Christmas dinner at the Rodriguez family house was warm with the nicely decorated house, family members, lots of food, and even gifts for her dogs. “Even the doodles get presents,” she playfully wrote about her dogs, highlighting the warmth of family traditions.

With her sister Kaylee and baby nephew Tatum joining the celebration, the video painted a picture of a young woman who’s learning to move forward despite the tough losses. Now that she’s all settled in Omaha with League One Volleyball, she’s ready to take the court with a squad of legends, ready to make waves in her professional volleyball journey.

Lexi Rodriguez to join the elites

It is not only Lexi Rodriguez causing ripples in LOVB Omaha; the team is filled with the best talents who are expected to take the game to greater levels. Playing alongside her are some of the icons in volleyball such as Jordan Larson and Justine Wong-Orantes, both bringing their unmatched experience to the court. Nebraska ‘Governor’ and four-time Olympic medalist Jordan Larson has another accomplishment added to her portfolio. Not only she is the LOVB Omaha’s founder athlete, but she also actively participates in practice sessions with Susie Fritz.

Justine Wong-Orantes also joins the squad, bringing her own legendary accolades to the mix. Justine is a two-time Olympian and she is an extraordinary player each time she is on the court. She once helped lead the US Women’s National team that won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and was awarded the Best Libero. Being an All-American, and a key player in the Huskers’ 2015 NCAA Volleyball Championship success, Justine is not to be trifled with.

Rodriguez recently surpassed her digs record, but learning from someone with such a rich volleyball background will undoubtedly elevate her game. With Lauren Stivrins, Madi Kubik-Banks, Candelaria Herrera, Jaali Winters, and Emily Thater as the team, it is time to bring some noise to the floor. Such an elite lineup is expected to make every practice and game an entertaining affair and we would like to know which player you are excited to see the most. Let us know in the comments!
