Nebraska Huskers fans endured a tense few days recently—but not because of their team, which is currently cruising through the season. Instead, their concern was for a fellow fan who sits in Section A4, Row 1, at the Devaney Center. Positioned just behind the serving line, he’s a familiar face, always cheering on the team and forging an unspoken bond with the crowd. However, his absence from his usual seat during the last few games left many fans worried.
This had worried some fans about the man’s whereabouts and had started the gossip mill on social media. But now the man named Regent Jim McClurg and his wife have come out and said that they had missed a match because of a community dinner and swapped seats for another. They promised to be present for the Huskers’ match against Iowa State. Now, the McClurgs must be delighted as they just watched an incredibly dominant Nebraska performance led by generational libero Lexi Rodriguez.

Many other players delivered too. Harper Murray got 11 kills and 7 digs in the whole game, showing how valuable she is to the team, while Taylor Landfair managed to bring seven kills and three blocks. This helped them have a very comprehensive defensive performance too, helping the offense to carry on in free flow.
Another standout performance came from Bergen Reilly, who earned widespread praise for her all-around contributions. Reilly recorded an impressive 41 assists, eight digs, three kills, three blocks, and two aces, showcasing her versatility and presence across the arena. While her efforts, alongside Lexi Rodriguez’s, were instrumental in the Huskers’ dominant win, it’s Lexi who continues to garner unparalleled acclaim this season. Many fans and analysts believe Rodriguez is on track to become the greatest libero ever to represent the Huskers, a testament to her consistent excellence.
Lexi Rodriguez has been a revelation for Nebraska
Lexi Rodriguez has been a phenomenal asset for the Nebraska Huskers. Now in her senior season, she is striving to crown her brilliant career with a potential NCAA title. However, even without the championship, her legacy at Nebraska is firmly established. Her remarkable stats speak volumes—she has been named an All-American three times during her tenure, making her only the 14th Husker in history to achieve this prestigious honor.

Lexi Rodriguez has also been recognized as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week five times throughout her career, further showcasing her dominance on the court. Her impressive stats highlight her exceptional performance, with 1,773 digs in her NCAA career. This achievement places her second on the all-time list for most digs by a Nebraska player in program history.
The player has overtaken Kayla Banworth who had 1706 digs and was considered an idol by Lexi as she recruited her to the team.“She was an assistant when I was being recruited and then committed. She left when I was a junior in high school maybe? But, I love her and honestly, she’s the reason I’m here.” said Lexi in an interview. Thus, now all she has to do is overtake Justine-Wong Orantes who has had 1890 digs. Then, she could very well be considered the greatest libero to wear the Nebraska shirt. Let’s see what happens, but right now, she certainly has the potential to do so.
