She helped the USA win gold at the recent World Volleyball Championship in Croatia. Helping her squad get out of a two-set deficit, she rallied the team out in the final against Turkey to win in five. She came back home with 13 digs and a gold medal. The Nebraska commit and the Bennington native will be bringing her skills to the home team, adding to the strength of the team in January. The Huskers have been on a winning streak. They have surpassed Wisconsin to claim the top spot.
And now standing at number 1 spot in the team standings, the next challenge for the team is to keep the streak alive. They will face Wisconsin soon; a game fans have set their eyes on for a while now. Huskers are looking strong and confident this season, but that is something that Coach Cook would want to remain constant. Keeping this in mind, Nebraska Huskers have added two recruits with great potential to their class of 24 this recruiting season.
Home becomes sweeter for new Huskers recruit

Coach Cook announced the recruits of the 2024 class. Skyler Pierce, the Kansas native. But the star of the show is probably the native to Husker nation, Olivia Mauch. Both the recruits have been on the different rosters of the national team. With this recruitment, the Huskers have added another explosive hitter and a defense specialist. An elated Nebraska Volleyball posted on their X, “HOMEGROWN HUSKER ?2023 FIVB U19 World Champion, Bennington native @olivia_mauch is officially a Husker!”?Side by side, it spared a thought for Pierce as well.

Welcoming Skyler to Nebraska, it wrote, “Sky?s flying high! ??Husker Nation, let?s give a Big Red welcome to Kansas native, outside hitter
@SkyPierce21! Welcome to the Good Life, Sky.” At 6ft2in the outside hitter from Lenexa, Kansas was locked in very early in the recruitment process. Prep Dig has ranked her at number 4 in her recruiting class.
While talking about Mauch, a lot of schools were reaching out to her during the week that recruitment opened. Mauch is one of the most talented players and took her team to the finals at the world championships, rallying the team to victory. A native of Bennington, the libero is ranked 16th overall by PrepVolleyball. The explosive player averaged 7.1 digs per set for Bennington High and throughout the season committed only two receiving errors on 508 attempts.
Both recruits add up to the strength of the team. The newly recruited outside hitter and the libero will take the team to another level. With the current undefeated streak for the Huskers, the recruits will be looking up to a winning team. Coach Cook has all praises for both his recruits.

Olivia has “a feel for the game”
Nebraska is having a good run this season, with the undefeated winning streak. The team has made up for the constant mistakes they were making at the beginning of the season. Coach Cook is satisfied with the performance recently. The early recruitment has gotten them the best of the players.

Talking about Olivia Mauch, Coach Cook said that Olivia Mauch is one of the most technically sound libero in the country. In further conversation with Huskerillustrated.com, Coach Cook said about Olivia, ?She?s got a feel for the game that you really want to see in a libero. Olivia is always in the right spot at the right time and just makes it look easy.?? While about Skyler, he has to say, ?Skyler is an incredibly gifted athlete who is not only a great attacker but can serve, pass, and play defense in the back row as well ?. Nebraska doesn?t have any seniors on the roster this season. With the recruits, it will be interesting to see how the Huskers perform next season.
