The transfer portal is shaking things up in the volleyball off-season. Every other day, news of players entering the transfer portal is making things interesting. While some are looking for better opportunities to show inner potential, others are getting transferred as they are shifting with family to a new place. However, this is not true with Kentucky Volleyball, aka Wildcat’s recent transfer.

The Wildcats are making headlines due to a team player’s recent addition to the transfer portal. Although Kentucky volleyball’s middle blocker has been playing quite well this season while accumulating various accolades under her name, she has been removed from the team’s roster this season.

This year, Kentucky volleyball is sending shocking waves throughout the collegiate volleyball. To announce the recent transfer portal addition, an insider Talia Goodman took to her X to write, “Kentucky volleyball middle blocker Elise Goetzinger has entered the transfer portal, per source.”

While revealing the news, Goodman also penned, Goetzinger averaged 2.6 kills per set this season, and the Wildcats made it to the Sweet Sixteen.” In addition to this, she played a vital role in taking Kentucky volleyball to the Sweet Sixteen at the NCAA Volleyball Tournament 2023. Elise managed to clinch 10 points in the match against Baylor at NCAA.

In fact, due to her remarkable performance this year at the tournament, she was honored with SEC Volleyball Player of the Week, Co-Offensive. Elise has one year of eligibility remaining, but she is not the only one getting transferred from the Kentucky volleyball team.

Who all are going out of Kentucky?

This year, Elise and Reagan Rutherford, despite their experience and performance, are getting added to the transfer portal. Just like Elise, Reagan was also part of the team’s roster while clinching a spot at the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. As a part of the Kentucky volleyball team, she features 306 sets in 92 matches and an average of three kills per set.

Notably, Reagan was also a part of Wildcat’s historic achievement in 2020, when the team clinched a national championship trophy for the first time. Unfortunately, the remarkable gameplay of both Elise and Reagan will not be witnessed in Kentucky’s upcoming matches, as the players will soon find another team to display their potential.
